--------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />Council recessed from 9:05 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. <br />--------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />Thetis Pappas, 587 Seahorse Lane, Redwood City congratulated everyone who <br />participated in drafting the General Plan and spoke to the problems of <br />pilots who use San Carlos Airport and violate safety rules, bay level is <br />rising and problems of flooding, the emphasis on Redwood Shores in the <br />draft, and asked Council to prepare a condensed version of the General <br />Plan. <br />Dave Turner, 2245 Brewster, Redwood City described how improvement of <br />Brewster Street has led to increased traffic and asked for clarification of <br />proposed traffic plans in General Plan. <br />Mayor Greenalch advised the intention of the General Plan is to keep <br />residential streets residential. <br />Vic Holbrook, 28 Diller Street, Redwood City commended the police and fire <br />departments for their efforts during the earthquake emergency and suggested <br />situating the police department on the east side of Highway 101 might <br />not be a good idea in view of the collapse of a freeway structure during <br />the recent earthquake. <br />Gene Genochio, 2150 Spring Mountain Road, St. Helena objected to the <br />designation of his property bounded by Redwood Creek, Corkscrew Slough and <br />Deepwater Slough as open space and expressed disappointment representatives <br />of the Port were not there to answer questions. <br />Gus Pappas, 587 Seahorse Lane, Redwood City suggested Council investigate <br />impact of business with Pacific rim countries before deciding future of <br />Redwood City Port and described Port as a natural resource deserving of <br />protection. <br />Mayor Greenalch asked anyone else who wished to speak to do so.
