The program's service population is generally between the ages of 22-54. 70% non- <br /> white, and predominantly low income. <br /> Effects of Services: Services will allow low income residents in crisis to stabilize their <br /> situations over the short-term and receive assistance in planning for long-term solutions to <br /> emergency situations. Monolingual Spanish speaking residents of the community will be <br /> provided access to services where language had been a barrier and residents will, in <br /> general, have easy access to information on how to resolve issues of concern. <br />II. SUPPORTING ACTIVITIES: <br /> Community Needs Assessments: Program activity statistics are reviewed on a monthly <br /> basis to identify trends and compare levels of demand for service. ,. <br /> Education and Training: Staff and volunteers are encouraged and provided with release <br /> time to attend any and all Core Service Center Sponsored training. Monthly staff meetings <br /> include speakers of interest to staff and volunteers. <br /> Planning: The effectiveness of the program will be reviewed by the Department and City <br /> Council as part of its regular strategic plan/budget study at six (6) month intervals. <br /> Resource Development: The program will establish contracts with The Salvation Army, <br /> S1. Vincent de Paul, local churches for food, clothing, furniture, and shelter assistance for <br /> clients. <br /> Community Coordination: Program staff will continue to be involved with the Network <br /> of Core Service Center, The Hunger and Homeless Action Coalition, and will be <br /> attempting to establish a Redwood City Emergency Services Provider meeting. <br /> Outreach, Marketing, and Publicity: The program is advertised on a quarterly basis in . <br /> the Citywide newsletter which is sent to all Redwood City residences. Monthly reports are <br /> submitted and reviewed by the Department Head, Fair Oaks Community Center Advisory <br /> Board, and the City Parks and Recreation Commission. The primary means of outreach <br /> and publicity for the program has been and will continue to be word of mouth. <br />III. DESCRIPTION OF THE SERVICE ENVIRONMENTS <br /> Clients Served: The program serves low income residents 90 % of which are between the <br /> ages of 22 and 54. Over 50% of these clients are Hispanic, with most of this group being <br /> very limited English speaking. Translation and forms assistance and emergency food, <br /> clothing and lodging are the most requested services by clients of the program. <br /> Contract Service Staff: One and one-half, full-time equivalent employees are allocated <br /> to this program. <br /> -3- <br /> .' - .-...., ' ' <br /> . <br /> I <br />
