He stated that he thinks the fee imposed is inconsistent <br />with the tax and inconsistent with the public policy and, as a matter of community <br />wide concern, it is important to formally be involved to resolve this for the entire <br />community. <br />Ralph Nobles, resident of Redwood City speaking on behalf of the "No on Q", <br />committee, to express gratitude tD 12,109 citizens who gave support and vote on <br />November 2. He further thanked Mayor Jeff Ira and Paul Powers of <br />Glenborough-Pauls, for their gracious and generous expression of <br />congratulations on their victory. He expressed the committee's desire to work <br />with the City and Glenborough-Pauls toward the achievement of progress and <br />betterment of Redwood City and the people. He clarified that the committee <br />bears no ill will or anger toward the many organizations or individuals who <br />opposed the referendum. He congratulated newly elected Assembly Member Ira <br />Ruskin and urged appointment of Planning Commission Chairperson Hillary <br />Paulsen to fill the vacancy. <br />Michael Kastrop, President of the Redwood City Downtown Business Group, <br />spoke on behalf of the organizing committee for the 'Tis the Season youth event, <br />"Hometown Holidays". The event is co-sponsored by the Redwood City Cultural <br />Commission, the Downtown Business Group and Peninsula Sunrise Rotary to be <br />held on December 4 in downtown Redwood City. There will be a snow play lot, <br />photos with Santa Claus, musical entertainment and culminates with the <br />children's parade at 4:30 p.m. and fireworks at 5:45 p.m. All youth organizations <br />are encouraged to participate in the parade that includes school groups, school <br />bands, sports clubs, performing groups, church youth groups and youth service <br />organizations with cash prizes for the most enthusiastic participation. He asked <br />anyone affiliated with such groups to call the hotline at 361-0538 or visit the City's <br />website. He further invited the entire community to the event. <br />M/S Howard/Pierce to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the <br />ordinances by title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other <br />items. Item 6.1.B was removed for separate consideration by Council Member <br />Hartnett and Items 6.1.C and 6.4.A were removed from consideration at this time. <br />The motion passed by a_ unanimous roll call vote with Council Member <br />Ruskin absent. <br />6.1 Section - Motions <br />A.
