<br /> 16.2..3 Effective with the first full pay period on or after October 1, 2000, salaries for all <br /> RCMEA members shall be increased by the Consumer Price Index for all Urban <br /> Consumers (San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose) for year ending August 31, 2000 <br /> (September 1, 1999 - August 31, 2000), with a minimum of three percent (3 %) <br /> to a maximum of five percent (5%). <br /> 16.2.4 Classifications internally aligned shall maintain their minimum top step <br /> differentials to subordinate and/or benchmark classifications (as specified in the <br /> City-wide benchmark listing) at all times through out the term of the agreement. <br /> 16.3 Meritorious Achievement Adjustment <br /> 16.3.1 When an individual's performance is judged to exceed a satisfactory level, a <br /> merit increase may be given in addition to the cost-of-living adjustment. Such <br /> an increase may be between four and seven percent (4% and 7%). This increase <br /> is based on the City's evaluation of the degree to which the employee met <br /> hislher objectives. In making this determination, the relative merit of an <br /> individual employee among other management unit employees shall be <br /> considered. The meritorious achievement awards scale will be: <br /> Unsatisfactory No increase <br /> Satisfactory 4% <br /> Exceeds Standards 5%-6% <br /> Outstanding 7% <br /> 16.3.2 Recommendations for merit increases will be made by the department head <br /> and forwarded with detailed justifications to the City Manager and Personnel <br /> Officer, who may make adjustments prior to approval. Subject to Section 10.8, <br /> merit increases may only be granted upon completion of six (6) months of <br /> probationary employment and yearly thereafter from the date of the six <br /> (6)month probationary merit increase. <br /> 16.4 Salary Adjustments <br /> All salary plan adjustments shall be effective the first full pay period on or after October <br /> 1, 1998 , 1999 and 2000, respectively. All employees occupying a classification within <br /> the Unit shall be eligible to receive these salary plan adjustments. <br /> 16.5 Salary Increase on Promotion <br /> Promotional appointments shall be made at the level in the new salary range which <br /> results in an increase of at least five percent (5%) but in no event shall the promoted <br /> employee receive less than the salary of any subordinate classification the employee is <br /> required to supervise directly. Promotional appointments which result in a salary <br /> increase of more than five percent (5%) may be made with the approval of the City <br /> Manager and the City Council.
