<br />15.9 Communications Dispatcher Training Differential <br /> Communications Dispatchers assigned to train newly hired workers shall be paid <br /> a training differential of five percent (5%) for all hours assigned and worked in <br /> such training assignments. <br /> ARTICLE 16 - HOURS OF WORK, OVERTIME, PREMIUM PAY <br />16.1 Hours of Work <br /> The regular work week shall consist of forty (40) hours within a seven (7) day <br /> work week which begins Monday morning at 12:01 a.m., and ends Sunday night <br /> at 11 :59 p.m., and is usually five (5) consecutive days served in units of eight (8) <br /> hours. <br /> All workers shall be granted and take a rest period of fifteen (15) minutes during <br /> each regularly scheduled four (4) hour work period. Rest periods shall be <br /> considered as time worked for pay purposes. <br /> Alternative work schedules may be established with the approval of the <br /> Department Head and the Human Resources Director. <br />16.2 Overtime <br /> 16.2.1 Overtime is to be paid after forty (40) hours in paid status in one (1) <br /> work week, and for work performed in excess of eight (8) <br /> consecutive hours in one (1) day (exclusive of lunch period), except <br /> as provided in Article 16.2.2 below. <br /> 16.2.2 A worker who is assigned to a shift consisting of more than eight <br /> (8) consecutive hours (exclusive of lunch period) shall be entitled to <br /> overtime after forty (40) hours in paid status in one (1) work week. <br /> Workers in positions exempt from the FLSA who are assigned to <br /> work a shift of more than eight (8) consecutive hours per day <br /> (exclusive of lunch period) shall be entitled to overtime if they are in <br /> paid status more than eighty (80) hours in a biweekly pay period. <br /> 16.2.3 Workers required to work in excess of the regularly scheduled <br /> hours of work shall be compensated for such overtime service at <br /> the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the worker's regular <br /> straight-time rate. The foregoing shall apply to the first shift in <br /> excess of five (5) consecutive shifts that a worker may be required <br /> to work as result of a change in shift schedule. <br /> 23 <br />
