<br /> 16.2.4 Payment for overtime work will be either cash or compensatory <br /> time off at the worker's option. Workers may accumulate a <br /> maximum of eighty (80) hours of compensatory time off which may <br /> be used at times chosen by the worker and approved by the <br /> Department Head. <br /> 16.2.5 A worker may elect to receive compensation in lieu of <br /> compensatory time credits for any calendar year by requesting <br /> payment in writing to the Director of Finance on or before <br /> December 1 of that year. Payment shall be made for the number <br /> of hours as specified by the worker up to the total number of hours <br /> earned as of December 31. Payment shall be made to the worker <br /> by the first pay period in February. Workers will be entitled <br /> thereafter to accrue up to eighty (80) hours again, subject to the <br /> same limitations. <br />16.3 Shift Differential <br /> 16.3.1 Effective February 1, 1996 any worker who is scheduled to work an <br /> eight (8) hour shift commencing between the hours of 3:00 p.m. <br /> and 6:00 a.m. shall be paid an additional five percent (5%) for each <br /> straight-time hour worked. <br /> 16.3.2 For workers who have been regularly working night shifts for thirty <br /> (30) or more days immediately preceding a paid holiday, or the <br /> commencement of a vacation, or the commencement of a paid sick <br /> leave period, as the case may be, the night shift premium shall be <br /> included in such worker's holiday pay, vacation payor paid sick <br /> leave. <br /> 16.3.3 Workers assigned to regular rotation schedules which qualify for <br /> shift differential as defined in Section 16.3.1 above, shall have such <br /> differential included in their holiday pay, vacation pay, or paid sick <br /> leave, beginning on the first day of such assignment. <br />16.4 Standby Duty <br /> Workers assigned to standby duty shall, at their option, either be paid three (3) <br /> hours straight-time payor receive three (3) hours of straight time compensatory <br /> time for each day they are on standby duty, such day beginning at 7:30 a.m. and <br /> ending at 7:30 a.m. the following day. <br /> 24 <br />
