<br /> ARTICLE 1 - RECOGNITION <br />1.1 Union Recognition <br /> Service Employees International Union Local 715 has been recognized as the <br /> Exclusive Representative, pursuant to the Employer-Employee Relations <br /> Resolution of the City adopted August 7, 1972, for the regular full-time and <br /> regular part-time workers assigned to the classes set forth in Appendix A which <br /> is attached hereto and made a part hereof. This unit of workers shall for the <br /> purpose of identification be titled the SEIU Unit. <br />1.2 Employer Recognition <br /> The City Manager is the representative of the City of Redwood City, hereinafter <br /> referred to as "the City", in employer-employee relations pursuant to the <br /> Employer-Employee Relations Resolution of the City adopted August 7,1972. <br /> ARTICLE 2 - NO DISCRIMINATION <br />It is the policy of the City of Redwood City to provide equal employment opportunity to <br />all workers and applicants for employment. All employment practices, such as <br />recruitment, selection, promotions, and other terms and conditions of employment are <br />administered in a manner designed to ensure that workers and applicants for <br />employment or services are not subjected to discrimination on the basis of age (over <br />40), race, color, sex, national origin, medical condition, disability (except where a <br />disability is a bona fide occupational disqualification), sexual orientation, marital status, <br />religious or political preference or union affiliations. <br /> ARTICLE 3 - UNION SECURITY <br />3.1 Union Representatives <br /> A qualified representative of the Union shall be allowed to visit the work location <br /> for the purpose of ascertaining whether or not this Agreement is being observed. <br /> This right shall be exercised reasonably. A qualified representative of the Union <br /> shall report to management before proceeding to the work location. He/She <br /> shall not interfere with the normal conduct of work. Activities such as the <br /> soliciting of membership, collection of dues, holding membership meetings, <br /> campaigning for office, conducting elections and distributing literature is strictly <br /> prohibited during working hours without the prior approval of the Human <br /> Resources Director or his/her representatives. <br /> 2 <br />.. ,.,.. ... - ,..-., .. u....._.~.._ _. <br />
