An adjustment shall be made only upon the recommendation of the department head and upon approval ofthe City Manager. 7.2.3 Increases within the salary range established for the classification of Firefighter shall be administered as follows: initial appointments shall normally be made at the first step in the salary range. With continued satisfactory performance, an employee in the classification of Firefighter may be eligible for a salary increase to the second step after a six (6) month interval. With continued satisfactory performance, an employee in the Firefighter classification may be eligible for a salary step increase at twelve month intervals between the second and third steps, between the third and fourth steps, and between the fourth and fifth steps schedule. The status quo shall be maintained regarding the payment ofFLSA overtime. The City shall also maintain the status quo on the payment of regular overtime as prescribed in Section 7.6 of the current MOD. 7.3 Captain Compaction Adjustment Effective the first of the pay period closest to January 1, 1998, Captain's salaries shall be increased by 5%. 7.4 Work Schedule The regular workweek for employees in the classification of Fire Fighter and Captain shall be fifty-six (56) hours on existing work schedules.
