<br /> 3.1.6.2 Such exempt employee shall, as an alternative to <br /> payment of an agency fee to the Union, pay an <br /> amount equivalent to such agency fee to either: <br /> 3.1.6.2.1 The American Cancer Society; <br /> 3.1.6.2.2 The American Heart Association; <br /> 3.1.6.2.3 The Sickle Cell Anemia Research <br /> and Education, Inc. (SCARE); or <br /> 3.1.6.2.4 Any charity jointly agreed upon by <br /> the City and the Union. Such <br /> charities cannot be affiliated in any <br /> manner with the Union, nor can such <br /> charity be related to an established <br /> religious organization. <br /> 3.1.6.3 The Union, upon written request, may require such <br /> exempt employee to submit a written affidavit <br /> explaining the cause and nature of the allowable <br /> objection to payment of an agency fee. In addition, <br /> the Union may require such exempt employee to <br /> submit proof of payment of an amount equivalent to <br /> such agency fee to one of the alternative funds or <br /> organizations listed above. <br />3.1.7 Payment Method <br /> 3.1.7.1 Any employees who are not exempted from payment <br /> under Section 3.1.6.1 above may pay annually the <br /> properly determined agency fee directly to the Union. <br /> 3.1.7.2 As an alternative to the direct payment method, an <br /> employee may voluntarily sign and deliver to the <br /> City a written assignment authorizing deduction of <br /> the properly established agency fee as defined in <br /> Section 3.1.3 above, subject to the conditions set forth <br /> elsewhere in this MOU for payroll deductions. Upon <br /> voluntary authorization duly completed and executed, <br /> the City will deduct from the pay of unit members <br /> and pay to the Union the normal and regular monthly <br /> agency fee. <br /> 3.1.7.3 In the event that an employee who is not exempted <br /> from payment under Section 3.1.3 does not <br /> 4 <br />
