Salter <br /> Chief Negotiator <br /> International Association of Firefighters, Local 2400 <br /> 755 Marshall Street <br /> Redwood City, CA 94063 <br /> SUBJECT: SIDE LEITER OF AGREEMENT <br />i Dear Dick: <br /> Below is an implementation description of the City of Redwood City's Paramedic Program. <br /> This program is consistent with the requirements of the County-wide Paramedic Program and it <br /> will be effective approximately 10-1-98. The implementation description of the Service Area <br /> Eight Paramedic Program that will be effective approximately 9-1-97 has also been included. <br /> The City Council sets policy regarding implementation of paramedic service for the City of <br /> Redwood City. This agreement is not intended to undermine the City Council's policy <br /> authority. However, the City will, upon request, meet with the IAFF to discuss modifications <br /> related to any of the paramedic programs. <br /> COUNTY-WIDEP~DICPROGRAM <br /> Tbe Pr~ram <br /> 1. The City will have a Paramedic Program in place by January 1999, per the Countywide <br /> Plan. <br /> 2. Captains shall not be permitted to occupy an approved Paramedic position or to attend <br /> training to become paramedic certified under this program. Personnel promoted to <br /> Captain will no longer receive Paramedic premium pay. <br />, 3. Paramedic training is anticipated to commence in Oct/Nov, 1997. <br /> 4. The City approves a minimum of 18 Firefighter/Paramedics (FF/P) until experience has <br />Ii determined that 21 Paramedic positions are required to conduct operations. Determination <br /> will be based on when overtime costs exceed the costs of adding additional Paramedic <br /> ratings. <br /> 5. Working estimate for Paramedic training costs per Firefighter is $25,103. This amount <br /> will be used to cover regularly scheduled work shift. <br /> 6. FF/P will be folded into the existing OT and Seniority systems. <br />
