Paramedic Premium Pay @ 10% of Base Pay <br /> Paramedic Assistance Pay @ 2.5% of Base Pay <br /> Compaction Adjustment for Fire Captains @ 2.5% of Base Pay <br /> Training Allowance @ $IO,OOOIStudent <br /> These items will become effective upon Paramedic Certification of Firefighters <br /> intended to implement service by January 1, 1999. <br /> 2. FF/P's receiving Paramedic pay will not receive Paramedic Assistance pay. <br /> 3. Paramedic pay will be added to base pay, regardless of position on engine or if on <br /> scheduled or non-scheduled hours. <br /> 4. Paramedic pay will only be paid to FF/P's functioning in department approved Paramedic <br /> positions. <br /> 5. FF/P's will maintain Paramedic pay when acting in higher classification. <br /> 6. A training allowance of $10,000 will be provided, in lieu of overtime pay while attending <br /> off duty training. <br /> 7. The $10,000 Training Allowance will be provided as follows: $2,500 upon accqgnce <br /> into the Training Program as determined by examination and seniority; $2,500 upon <br /> successful completion of the didatic training; $2,500 upon successful completion of <br /> clinical training; $2,500 upon receipt of Paramedic Certification by the State of California <br /> and the County of San Mateo. <br /> If an employee voluntarily withdraws ftom any portion of the Paramedic Training <br /> Program, the employee shall refund to the City the most recent $2,500 received. Fire <br /> Management shall be responsible to notify HR and Finance Departments regarding the <br /> refund. <br /> Stafline <br /> 1. Bidding ofFF/P's will be: one on each engine company and one on the truck. 1he truck <br /> Paramedic position is a bidded position and is not a mandatory staffing Paramedic <br /> position. <br /> 2. The Driver/Operator may be the only Paramedic on a Company. <br /> 3. Existing FF's, who wish to become Paramedic rated, shall take a screening test designed <br /> by the training institution. The test may be offered in August 1m. Those who pISS and <br /> have seniority may attend the Paramedic Training Program according to the number of <br />t approved training openings. <br /> 4. Until the Paramedic Program is fully staffed, the FD will fill upcoming vacancies by <br /> employing Paramedic Certified Personnel. <br /> 5. Once the Paramedic Program is fully staffed, vacancies will be filled position by position <br /> (e.g. a FF vacancy filled with a FF; a Paramedic vacancy filled with a Paramedic).. <br />i 6. Hired Paramedics must remain certified for a minimum of 4 years.. (exceptions: <br /> \ promotions; retirements; disqualifications; etc.) <br /> \ <br />
