<br /> 7. Department trained Paramedics shall commit to maintaining Paramedic Certification for a <br /> 4 year period from the date of certification. If a FF/P under this agreement voluntarily <br /> withdraws prior to the end of the 4-year period. they shall reimburse the City as follows: <br /> $3,000 for withdrawal within the 1- year; $2,000 for withdrawal within the 2ad year, <br /> $1,000 for withdrawal within the 3Rt year. <br /> 8. Voluntary de-certification by a Paramedic may occur when a FF/P has met the initial 4- <br /> year minimum service time and there is a replacement. More than one voluntary de- <br /> certification at one time will be approved by seniority. The City may excuse an employee <br /> due to inability to perform. <br /> 9. Probationary employees will rotate through a minimum of three Fire Companies (with <br /> three different Fire Captains) during the period of their probation. The last company they <br /> are assigned to will become their regularly scheduled company assignmenl <br /> 10. Fire Captains shall have right of first refusal to fill a vacant Captain position. <br /> Trainine <br /> I. Once the Paramedic Program is fully staffed, additional personnel will be trained for <br /> Paramedic Certification at approximately one per year, based upon projected staffing <br /> needs. (Training typically occurs every two years.) the Department will budget <br /> accordingly. <br /> 2. Once the Paramedic Program is fully staffed, the department's goal will be to give priority <br /> to Department Trained Paramedics over the employment of Certified Paramedic trainees. <br /> 3. Paramedic Training is voluntary; however, the City will fund training that occurs during <br /> regularly scheduled work shifts. <br /> 4. Continuing Education will be managed as much as possible on-duty. <br /> 5. The Department will provide the two previously certified paramedics currently, employed <br /> by the Fire Department, a Training Allowance that is comparable to the OT costs of the <br /> hours required to obtain re-certification if they are approved to be Paramedic Certified by <br /> the Departmenl <br /> <br />I <br />i <br />
