ROCKETSHIP REDWOOD CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROJECT SEPTEMBER 2016 INITIAL STUDY/MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION • Policy BE-2.1:Create complete neighborhoods by integrating schools,parks,child care centers, community centers,infrastructure,green spaces and parks,and other public amenities into each neighborhood. The proposed project involves the renovation of an existing building and would avoid styles,colors, and materials that negatively impact the surrounding area and would therefore be consistent with General Plan Policy BE-1.5. The proposed project has been designed to blend in with the surrounding community and would also be consistent with General Plan Policy BE-1.8. In addition,the proposed project is consistent with General Plan Policy BE-2.1 because it would introduce a new elementary school to the neighborhood. Although the proposed project would require Conditional Use Permits to allow the school and playground uses,the proposed project would not substantially conflict with the intent of the City's General Plan,the County General Plan and applicable Redwood City and San Mateo County zoning regulations. Therefore,the proposed project would not conflict with any land use plan,policy,or regulation adopted for the purpose of avoiding or mitigating an environmental effect and this impact would be less than significant. c) Conflict with any applicable habitat conservation plan or natural community conservation plan?
