They have
removed a parking lot and removed street parking while adding a
potential of almost 500 people going to and from the location twice a
day. They have not even provided adequate parking for their own staff!
No allowance has been made for service vehicles, parents coming
during the day, emergency vehicles, food delivery etc.
Traffic studies were done before adding the Stanford parking lot,
industrial gas site and veterinary clinic. The traffic study should be re-
evaluated while the school already on Charter & Sweeney is in session.
Developer's steps to mitigate toxicity seem to be inadequate.
Ground toxicity has been detected below the concrete at the interior of
the building. This has not been properly mitigated. Has a study been
done of toxicity below the existing parking lot? This lot is being torn up
to make way for a playground for small children, it seems that this
same detected toxicity will off gas thru the area where children will be
playing. Has the area beneath the parking lot and adjacent to the
building been tested for toxicity?
Assuming 80 children walk to school and the remaining teachers and
students commute with cars. The proposal will add approx. 40 staff
vehicles and approx. 400 parent vehicles. The walking traffic will still
block driveways and the traffic will make it almost impossible for
employees to come to work and for local businesses to conduct normal
business operations during these times.
1
