TA. - Page 220 et Rocketship School Shuttle August 24, 2017 <br /> Intersection Delay <br /> While the proposed Rocketship School is expected to cause a less than significant impact on <br /> intersections in the vicinity of the project even without the proposed student shuttle program, the <br /> shuttles would minimize the project's effect on intersection delays. Intersection level of service and <br /> delay with the estimated reduction in parent vehicle trips were calculated at selected intersections <br /> with the highest number of project trips. <br /> Table 2 shows the delay and level of service under background plus project conditions without and <br /> with the student shuttle program. When not in operation, three of the shuttles would be parked at the Rocketship <br /> headquarters office in Redwood City. The fourth shuttle would be parked at the school and would <br /> be used to transport shuttle drivers between the school and the Rocketship office. It is <br /> recommended that one of the standard-sized spaces in the school's front parking lot be reserved <br /> for shuttle parking. <br /> The proposed project would provide a total of 38 on-site parking spaces, which meets Redwood <br /> City's standards. As part of the student shuttle program, one employee would drive a shuttle <br /> vehicle to and from their home instead of driving their personal vehicle. This would offset the need <br /> for one on-site shuttle space by reducing the employee parking demand by one vehicle. <br /> Conclusions <br /> The proposed student shuttle program for the Rocketship school at 860 Charter Street in Redwood <br /> City would result in a reduction in parent vehicle trips to and from the school site, a reduction in the <br /> length of on-site queues during the peak drop-off and pick-up periods, and a reduction in delays at <br /> intersections surrounding the school. Parking three shuttle vehicles off site at the Rocketship office <br /> when not in use and allowing at least one employee to drive a shuttle to and from their home <br /> instead of driving their personal vehicle would ensure that the on-site parking supply would be <br /> H E X A 6 0 N Page 13 <br />
