She stated that it is extremely important to the <br />parents, the children are very happy. She further stated that the Parks and <br />Recreation Department worked with the school to apply and receive a grant of <br />$97,000. to establish an academic enrichment program. <br />Mayor Ira gave a status report on the retail /cinema project, explaining that a <br />construction delay has occurred mainly due to the worldwide glut on steel. He stated <br />that China has had a demand on steel for building needs related to the 2008 <br />Olympics. The current due date for steel delivery is the second week of November. <br />He urged the community to watch the newspapers and City website for further <br />updates and information regarding any road closures or detours. <br />M/S Hartnett/Pierce to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances <br />by title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items.
