16.22 Weekend Holidays <br />When any of the above holidays fall on Sunday, the following Monday shall be <br />considered the holiday. When any of the above holidays fall on Saturday, the proceeding <br />Friday shall be considered the holiday. <br />16.23 Work on a Holiday <br />A management unit member who is required to work on any of the holidays listed in <br />Section 16.21.1 above shall receive instead a paid day off on the workday either <br />preceding or following the holiday as determined by the department head. <br />16.24 Holiday During Vacation <br />In the event any of the holidays specified in Section 16.21.1 above occurs while an <br />employee is on vacation or sick leave, the holiday shall not be charged as vacation or sick <br />leave. <br />16.25 Deferred Compensation <br />Effective October 1, 2002, the City shall contribute an amount equal to two percent (2%) <br />of base monthly salary to a deferred compensation plan offered by the City. <br />ARTICLE 17 <br />HOURS OF WORK <br />The regular workweek shall be forty (40) hours per week. The regular workweek for Battalion <br />Chief on a shift schedule shall be fifty-six (56) hours per week. <br />ARTICLE 18 <br />LEAVE PROVISIONS <br />18.1 Sick Leave <br />18.1.1 Sick leave with pay shall be granted to all regular employees except as <br />hereinafter provided, at the rate of one (1) working day for each full calendar <br />month of service. Upon satisfactory completion of six (6) months of the <br />probationary period, an employee shall be credited with six (6) days sick leave <br />and shall accumulate sick leave thereafter at the rate of one (1) day for each <br />calendar month of service. Battalion Chiefs who work a fifty-six (56) hour <br />work week shall accrue sick leave at the rate of twenty-four (24) hours per <br />
