Upon completion of four (4) years of employment and thereafter through <br />the ninth year of employment, full-time employees will accrue vacation at <br />the rate of one -hundred -twenty (120) hours per year of service (4.6154 <br />hours per pay period). Upon completion of nine (9) years of employment <br />and thereafter through the sixteenth year of service, full-time employees <br />will accrue vacation at the rate of one -hundred -sixty (160) hours per year <br />of service (6.1538 hours per pay period). Upon completion of sixteen (16) <br />years of employment and thereafter through the nineteenth year of service, <br />full-time employees will accrue vacation at the rate of one -hundred -eighty <br />(180) hours per year of service (6.9231 hours per pay period). Upon <br />completion of nineteen (19) years of employment and thereafter, full-time <br />employees will accrue vacation at the rate of two hundred (200) hours per <br />year (7.6923 hours per pay period). <br />7.14.3 Vacation leave shall not be accumulated in excess of two (2) years accrued <br />vacation leave computed to the 31st of December, except upon written <br />authorization of the Personnel Officer. <br />7.14.4 In the event an employee is reinstated, prior service shall be included in <br />determining the applicable rate of accrual of vacation leave. Upon <br />termination of employment a regular employee shall be paid cash value of <br />his/her accrued vacation leave at the time of termination, in accordance <br />with the above schedule. <br />7.15 Illness During Vacation <br />7.15.1 An employee who commences a scheduled vacation period and <br />subsequently becomes ill before his or her vacation period has been <br />completed shall be placed on sick leave under the following conditions: <br />7.15.1.1 The employee otherwise qualified for sick leave as provided by <br />this MOU; and <br />7.15.1.2 The employee, if no longer ill, returns to duty immediately <br />following the vacation period; and, <br />7.15.1.3 The employee's illness is verified by a statement from an <br />accredited medical doctor for each such day of sick leave <br />requested. <br />7.15.2 When the employee's vacation leave is to be converted to sick leave, the <br />appropriate vacation credit shall be restored to the employee's earned <br />vacation balance, and a reasonable opportunity to utilize this vacation <br />credit shall be provided within the City's existing practices in order to <br />avoid loss of vacation credit. <br />13 <br />
