Matters of Council Interest (continued) <br />d. Counci 1 woman LaBerge reported that the Board of Port Commissioners has <br />established an Architectural Review Committee which includes one member each <br />from the Civic Cultural Commission and the Board of Building Review as well <br />as a local photographer. She said she attended the first Committee meeting <br />on May 3, 1988. <br />e. Mayor Greenalch referred to a press report on his role in the negotiations <br />with the 49ers stated there was evidently a misunderstanding and assured <br />Council that he makes no claim to "fame ", having taken only a small part in <br />the negotiations. <br />CITY MRNAGER REPORTS <br />3. Water Conservation Program (see Minutes 5/2/88) <br />(1204-09) <br />Committee Report 5/9/88 <br />Councilman Bury, Chairman of the Water Conservation Committee, presented the <br />subject report. <br />Director of General Services Sennewald commented concerning the penalty cost <br />to the City of failure to reduce water use by 25% as required by the San <br />Francisco Water Department and responded to questions relating to the <br />proposed Water Rationing Plan and the means by which his department w i l l <br />publicize it to all water customers. <br />In further response to questions, Mr. Sennewald said that many households <br />have already adopted water conservation methods, and the Plan takes into <br />consideration inside water use which is reduced only 10% and exterior water <br />use which must be reduced by 60%; that the object of the Plan is to avoid <br />economic hardship; and described the manner in which water will be allocated <br />to developments. <br />Community Development Director Pawloski replied to questions regarding water <br />allocations for developments where permits have been issued and those in the <br />pl ann i ng st age. <br />City Attorney Schri cker said that there is no distinction between residential <br />and commercial water use and that the ordinance proposed by the Committee <br />prohibits use of newly installed or expanded irrigation systems. <br />Director of Parks and Recreation Griffiths replied to questions regarding the <br />prospects for survival of various types of landscaping with the 60% water <br />red u ct i on . <br />Title read.
