MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />a. Counci 1 woman Buchan said that the undesirable drug - related activities in <br />the Whipple Lodge area have commenced again in Mezes park, in spite of <br />considerable police presence and reported details of a recent incident. <br />Councilwoman Buchan urged that Council effort be made to correct the <br />problem again. <br />CONCENSUS: Mayor Greenalch determined it to be the consensus of Council to <br />accept the suggestion of Councilman Claire and appoint a three - member Council <br />committee to work with staff on the legal means to solve the problems in the <br />Whipple Lodge / Mezes Park area, with the Committee appointments to be placed <br />on the May 23, 1988 Agenda. <br />MEMO 5/17/88 <br />b. Councilman Murray reported attending the League of California Cities <br />Orientation Program for new council members and said it was extremely <br />val uabl e. He al so reported attendi ng the Spri ng Arts and Craf is Fai r <br />and commended the Civic Cultural Commission for an excellent event. <br />c. Councilman Bury reported attending the American Legion Post #105 "Public <br />Safety Recognition" awards dinner on May 13, 1988 and said that the <br />successful event honored Police Sergeant Hugh Johnson, Firefighter Clifford <br />Pierce, Sheriff's Sergeant Richard A.
