3. Public Hearing - Water Rate Increase <br />Report: Finance Director 5/19/88 <br />Finance Director Ramchandani presented the subject report using overhead <br />projections of exhibits. <br />Mayor Greenalch declared the public hearing open at 10:31 p.m. <br />Patricia Dixon, 16 Admiralty Court, questioned the need for a rate increase. <br />Monte Gel l atly, 917 Gl ennan, inquired about drilling a well on his own <br />property for landscape use. <br />City Manager Smith suggested that Mr. Gel l atly inquire of the County Health <br />Department about obtaining a permit to drill a well. City Attorney Schricker <br />cautioned that permits may not be readily available because of concern for <br />ground table subsidence. <br />Mayor Greenalch invited anyone else present who wished to speak to do so. No <br />one else wished to speak. <br />M /S: Stangel /Buchan to close the public hearing <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote and public hearing closed at 10:42 p.m. <br />Title read. M /S: Claire /LaBerge <br />RESOLUTION NO. 10796 AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE <br />REDWOOD CITY WATER DEPARTMENT (GENERAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT) RELATING TO <br />WATER RATES; AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 9359; and that the figures in <br />Alternative B of the subject report for a ten percent water rate increase and <br />a 33% water shortage emergency surcharge be used. <br />Councilman Murray asked that the figures for Area 3 in Section 3.(c) be <br />changed from a multiplier of 1.1 to 1 .0, noting that Area 3 is Redwood <br />Shores. Mr. Smith and Mr. Schricker suggested that the matter be referred to <br />staff for investigation as there may be reasons which support the 1.1 figure <br />at this time. <br />CONSENSUS: Mayor Greenalch determined it to be the consensus of Council to <br />refer to staff the request of Councilman Murray regarding the multiplier for <br />Area 3.
