Mayor Greenalch presiding <br />Councilmen present: Buchan, Bury, Claire, LaBerge, Murray, Stangel and <br />Mayor Greenalch <br />Councilmen absent: None <br />Officials and staff present: Smith, Schricker, Hildebrand and Ranchandani <br />Pawl oski , Schroedl , Griffiths, Sennewal d, Hamilton, <br />O' B ri en <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - Councilman Bury <br />INVOCATION - Sheldon Boyd <br />Church of the Nazarene <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES - May 23, 1988 <br />M /S: LaBerge /Buchan to approve the subject Minutes as submitted. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote, Councilman Bury abstaining. <br />SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY AND PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />None <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br />a. Mrs. Jean Cloud, 890 Edgewood Road, noted there is an allocation for art for <br />the new Main Library and suggested that Union Cemetery is a fast- <br />deteriorating example of American art which is of national interest having <br />been placed on the National Register of Historic Place in 1983. Mrs. Cloud <br />said that funds have been budgeted for rehabilitation of the cemetery which <br />would create an historic park, but that to date nothing has been done on <br />construction of the project. She recommened establishment of a task force <br />composed of two Council members and res present ati ves of the Park and <br />Recreation Commission, Historic Preservation Association, Planning <br />Commission, Heritage Association, Civic Cultural Commission and the Archi eves <br />Committee who could meet with the architect to find out how to provide <br />protection to the cemetery as soon as possible. <br />MEMO 6/7/88 <br />Reg.Mtg. <br />6/6/88 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 48 <br />Page No. 79 <br />
