Item No. 4 (continued) <br />Elizabeth Stuart, 3329 Melendy Drive, San Carlos, member of the Sequoia <br />Hospital District Board, said that the project is vital to the District and a <br />good faith effort has been made to mitigate the effects on the neighborhood <br />and address the findings. Mrs. Stuart urged the appeal be granted. <br />(Council recessed from 9:30 to 9:40 p.m.) <br />Bert Barrett, 2.72 Upland, Oak Knoll /Edgewood Park Neighborhood Association, <br />said he opposes the project in any shape or form. Mr. Barrett urged that the <br />appeal be denied. <br />Brent Britschgi, 57 Woodsworth, referred to finding (v) regarding conflict <br />with single - family area, stating there is no substantial change relating to <br />the conflict and urged denial of the appeal. <br />Mike Bursak, 1831 Whipple, said that the functional aspects of the building <br />have been preserved, and, therefore, the impact on the neighborhood has not <br />changed. <br />Sidney Marchasin, M.D., 2908 Franciscan Court, San Carlos, Hospital Board <br />member, said that the items removed from the original project would not have <br />any significant effect on the traffic generated by it. <br />Gloria L. Maldonado, 1 31 Alameda de las Pulgas, said she does not believe <br />there is significant change in either the appearance or the use of the <br />building. Mrs. Maldonado urged that the appeal be denied and that the action <br />of the Planning Director be affirmed. <br />Herman Pepper, M.D., 953 Edgewood Road, said that the size reduction is <br />illusory, the use remains the same, and traffic will not be affected by the <br />changes. Dr. Pepper urged that the Planning Director be upheld. <br />Paul Sapsin, 195 Alameda de las Pulgas, urged Council to uphold the Planning <br />Director and deny the appeal. <br />Manuel Sotomayor, 12 Riviera Circle, spoke about the responsibilities of the <br />hospital district board. <br />Nita Spangler, 970 Edgewood Road, urged Council to follow the recommendation <br />of the Planning Director. <br />Richard Daniels, 340 Lodge Drive, San Carlos, spoke in support of the appeal <br />in view of the changes in the project. <br />Gus Pappas, Redwood Shores, suggested that Dr. Weber be asked if it is really <br />not possible to reduce the project further. <br />Dr. Weber (see above) said that his group has done the best possible with the <br />project, but cannot reduce it further and stated there has been misunder- <br />standing as to the financial benefits to the group from the project. <br />Reg.Mtg. <br />7/11/88 <br />Page 4 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 48 <br />Page No. 122 <br />
