6.1.C. - Page 1 <br />REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />October 2, 2017 <br />SUBJECT <br />Purchase of Eight Ford Police Interceptors <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, waive an irregularity and approve the purchase of eight 2018 Ford Police <br />Interceptors in the amount of $291,955.04 from Towne Ford of Redwood City, California <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City's Fleet Replacement Program is designed to provide a structure for evaluating <br />vehicles and equipment in order to replace them at the most economically <br />advantageous point in their life cycle. At pre -described intervals, vehicles and <br />equipment undergo a thorough evaluation including but not limited to, age, mileage, <br />condition, maintenance history, downtime, anticipated future repairs, usage and vehicle <br />capabilities. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The Redwood City Police Department has eight vehicles that are scheduled to be <br />replaced in the current fiscal year (FY). The Public Works Fleet Section met with <br />representatives from the Police Department and determined that all eight vehicles <br />should be replaced with 2018 Ford Police Interceptors as they will meet the rigorous <br />demands of the Police Department. <br />On August 11, 2017 a Notice Inviting Sealed Bids was published in The Daily News with <br />a submission deadline of August 30, 2017. Copies of the bid notice were emailed to six <br />local dealerships with additional copies available at the Public Works office. The <br />received bids were opened by the City Clerk on August 30, 2017 and are summarized in <br />the following table. <br />
