320 <br />Redwood City,August 13th.1917,8 o'clock P.M. <br />Regular adjourned meeting of the Board of Town Trustees held. <br />Upon roll call there were present,Trustees,President,E.H.Sampson,Geo.W.Lic.Nulty,Carl K. <br />Mabie,H.C.Tuchsen,City Clerk W.A.Price,3bsent,Trustee Geo.A.Merrill. <br />The reading of the minutes of the regular meeting held august 6th.1917 were dispensed <br />wi th. <br />Applicfxtion from Tony Casaretto to hold a dance until I2 O'clock Saturday night .August <br />18th.1917 at 1304 E1 Camino Real was on motion of Trustee Mabie,seconded by Trustee Ile. <br />Nulty same be granted,&Iotion Carried. <br />ORDIN10CE J 181. <br />An ORDIN.21dCE prohibiting the Sale,Giving,Supplying or Furnishing of Intoxicating Liquors <br />or any admixture Thereof in the Town of Redwood City to any Soldier or Sailor of the <br />United States while wearing the uniform of the Army or Navy and providing a punishment for <br />any violation thereof,Trustee Mabie,moves the introduction of Ordinance " 181.Trustee <br />Mc.Nuity seconds the motion,Motion Carried. <br />ZNt/_gdWG 1-1/11 Affidavit of Jas.D.Hedge in the matter of Publishing Resolution of Intention No.A-II <br />oIf - <br />ONAl1hAl cImprovements of Vera Avenue and the affidavit of Ed Dearborn in the matter of Posting <br />No /f/ notice of Resolution of Intention.NO.j,.-II, Improvements of Vera avenue was on motion of. <br />Trustee Mc.Nulty seconded by Trustee Mabie,same be received and filed,Motion Carried. <br />The following protests were received against Resolution of Intention A -II for the improve- <br />ment of Vera Avenue, <br />The Honorable Board of Trustee's, <br />Redwood City, <br />California. <br />Gentlemen; - <br />San Francisco, August 9,1917. <br />/hofZ/ISS In reference to your resolution of intention A -II passed by your honorable body <br />U6Nq n'/on July 23rd.1917 on which you will take action on the 13th.inst.,I respectfully submit the <br />following as a protest to the work being done at this time and especially in the manner as <br />indicated in your resolution. <br />According to my understanding the expense for the change of the grade of <br />the existing sewer on Vera avenue;will be charged against the property holders on Vera Ave. <br />The charges for the existing sewer was paid for by the property holders on the avenue only <br />recently and' therefore I consider it unjust that .whatever change the Engineering'Departmen�u <br />mow finds necessary should be again paid for by the property holders.Furthermore,I do not <br />consider that it is necesia.ry or advisable to place concrete gutter ways on a street that <br />can in no event abtain any prominence as a throughfdre in Redwood City for many years to <br />come. <br />In the early part of the year I signed a petition to your Honorable Board that Vera ave <br />be improved,but this petition did not request improvements approximating the expense that. <br />you now propose. <br />Since the date of my signing the petition for the improvemnet of Vera :1ve.our Country has <br />entered into t; war,and it is uncertain whem the ble5e.ing6 of pewce will be -restored to us. <br />Real Estate conditions have been unforable for may years, and ;ince our entry into war it <br />has been even mote unforable, and unless property holders have an oppu:rnity to dispose of <br />their holdings after expensive improvements have been asses -ed a sistinct hadship would be <br />entailed upon many of them,therefore the expense should be held within moderate limitations <br />I = desirous that Vera Ave.shell be improved,but I suggest that you defer doing do <br />0 <br />lit <br />
