450 <br />to said annexation then and there duly and regularly came before said Board for hearing <br />and consideration;and <br />WHEREAS,no person or persons then or at any time appeared before said Board of <br />Supervisors to object to said annexation, and no objections to said annexation were then <br />or ever made, and no written or other remonstrance or protestation to the annexation of the <br />said new uninhabited territory,or any part thereof,was then or ever filed with or made to <br />said Board of Supervisors; and <br />WHEREAS,said Board of Supervisors did then and there resolve,declare,ascertain and <br />determine that no person owning any land so sought to be annexed or any other person or <br />persons had or has objected to,or did or does object to said annexation, and that no re- <br />monstramce or protestation,written or otherwise,had or has been filed with,or made to said <br />Board of Supervisors; and <br />WHEREAS,said Board of Supervisors did then and there duly pass and adopt its certain <br />resolution thereby it did consent to the annexation by the Town of Redwood City of the <br />said new uninhabited territory above referred to,and directed its Clerk to give notice <br />thereof to the said Board of Trustees of the Town of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS, thereafter,to-wit;on the Ist.day of July,1918,at the hour of 8 o'clock P.M. <br />of said day(the same being the next ensuing meeting date of said Board of Trustees of said <br />Town of Redwood City)said Board of Trustees met in regular session at its meeting place in <br />the Town Hall of said Town of Redwood City and then and there received from the Clerk of <br />the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo,Stdte of California, notification of <br />the adoption by said Board of Supervisors of said resolution of consent to said annexation <br />of said new uninhabited territory to said Town of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS,said Board of Trustees of said Town of Redwood City, did, thereafter and on <br />the Ist,day of July 1918,by resolution duly and regularly adopted,order and direct that the <br />proposition whether or not said new uninhabited territory should be annexed to,incorporated <br />in and made a part of said Town of Redwood City be submitted to the electors of said Towm <br />of Redwood City at a special election to be held in said Town on Friday the 19th,day of <br />JulV,1918'. ;and <br />er;f/ lGa1oH WHEREAS,said Board of Trustees in and by said resolution did appoint qualified <br />,0P -h6' officers of said election,as prescribed by law,and did prder due notice of such special <br />election to be published and given for the time and in the manner provided by law and did <br />establish and in such notice of election designate the voting precincts and the places at <br />Cledflah which the polls would be opened in such mitnicipal corporation,which notice distinctly and in <br />°k due form,stated the proposition to be.submitted, and specifically described the boundaries <br />�ndZxa n of the proposted new territory,thereby describibg the same in such manner as to appraise <br />the voters of the particular land sought to be annexed, and invited the qulaified electors <br />of said Town of Redwood City to vote upon such proposition bjr marking their ballots"FOR <br />ANNEXATION"or AGAINST ANNEXATION";and <br />WHEREAS,notice of such election was duly published and given as required by law and <br />the order of this Board, and said special election was held,in accordance with law on Friday <br />the 19th.day of July,1918, the same being the date for which said election was by this Boar( <br />called;and the Judges,Inspectors and Clerks of said election,immediately upon the closing <br />of the polls,counted the ballots,made up and certified the returs of the ballots cast at the: <br />polling places,in the manner provided by law, and deposited all said returns with the Clerk <br />of said Town of Redwood City; and <br />Whereas, this is the time provided for the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees <br />of said Town of Redwood City next after the said returns were filed with the Clerk of said <br />Town,as hereinabove recited,and said Board of Trustees is now in open and regular session; <br />and has proceeded to open,canvass and declare, and has opened and canvassed,said returns of <br />special election, and has examined all the matters and things in regards to the calling, <br />notice,holding and conduct of special election; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF REDWOOD CITY; <br />SECTION I,That this Board of Trustees finds and hereby determines that due and regular <br />notice offl said special election was published and given as required by law and the order <br />of this Board, and that said special election was duly and regularly held and conducted on <br />the 19th,day of July,1918,in accordance with law and the order of this Board calling said <br />special eleetion; and that the Judges,Inspectors and Clerks of such special election did <br />immediately upon the closing of the polls,count the ballots,make up and certify the teturns <br />of the ballots cast at the designated polling place, and deposit all of said returns in the <br />manner provided by law with the Clerk of said Town of Redwood City;that this the 5th.day of <br />August,1918,and being the time next regular meeting of said Board of Trustees after the filing <br />of said returns with said Clerk as aforesaid is the time fixed by law for this Board of <br />Trustees to open,canvass and declare said returns. <br />SECTION 2.That the Board of Trustees of the Town of Redwood City,upon full examination <br />of the teturns of the votes cast in said Town of Redwood City at said special election,does <br />hereby certify and declare that the totes cast in said Town of Redwood City,for and against <br />said proposition voted upon at said special election,was and is a follows,to-wit ; <br />FOR ANNEXATION; FOUR HUNDRED AND ONE (401) VOTES. <br />AGAINST ANNEXATION; SIXTEEN (.16) votes,NO VOTES;ONE (I) vote. <br />and that the whole number of votes cast at said special election in said Town of Redwood <br />City was four hundred and eigteeen (48) votes, and that a majority of all the votes cast <br />for and against said proposition of annexation are and were in favor of such annexation. <br />SECTION 3.That at said special election it was duly and regularly determined to annex <br />to,incorporate in,and make a part of said Town of Redwood City the following territory,to- <br />wit ;
