<br />RESOLUTION REQUIRING TRE
<br />WEARING Oh GAUSS MASKS
<br />lit the Town of Redwood City, as a
<br />Preventative to Spanish
<br />influenza. '
<br />The Board of Trustees of the Town
<br />of Redwood City hereby resolve as
<br />follows, to -wit:
<br />Sec&n 1.—During the period of
<br />the epidemic of the so-called "Span-
<br />ish influenza," which is now preval-
<br />ent in the Town of Redwood City,
<br />every person appearing on the public
<br />streets, in any public place, or in any
<br />assemblage of persona or in any,,
<br />place where two or more persons are
<br />congregated, except in homes where
<br />only two meinp(Lys_of-the family, are
<br />present, and^ -"every person engaged
<br />In the -sale, handling or distribution
<br />of foodstuffs or wearing apparel shall
<br />wear a mask or covering, except
<br />when partaking of meals, over the
<br />nose and mouth consisting of four -
<br />ply material known as butter cloth
<br />or of fine -mesh gauze, at the four
<br />gorners of which are attached tape
<br />or other fastening, so that the mask
<br />or covering can be made to firmly
<br />cover the nose and mouth, said, mask
<br />to be not less than five inches in
<br />width and seven in length.
<br />Section 2.—Every person who shall
<br />violate any of the provisions of sec-
<br />tion 1 of this resolution shall be
<br />deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and
<br />shall be punished by a fine of not
<br />less than five ($5) dollars or more
<br />than one hundred ($100) dollars, or
<br />by imprisonment in the county jail
<br />for a period not exceeding ten days,
<br />or by both such One and imprison-
<br />ment.
<br />Section 3. This Resolution shall
<br />be in force and take effect Immediate-
<br />ly and shall remain in effect until
<br />repealed.
<br />Passed and adopted by the,Board
<br />of Trustees of the Town of Redwood,
<br />City at s, special meeting'of said
<br />Board duly called and held on the
<br />25th day of October, 1918, by the
<br />following vote:
<br />Ayes and in favor of the passage
<br />of the foregoing Resolution: Trus-

<br />Geo. A. Krefss, Carl K. Mable.
