<br />Regular adjourned meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Redwood City held.
<br />Upon roll call there were present Trustees;-H.C.Tuchsen,Geo.Vl.11cNulty,Geo,A.Kreiss,City
<br />Clerk W.A.Price,Absent Trustees M.E.Ryan,Carl g.I,Iabie.
<br />President Id.E,Ryan being absent the meeting was called to order by City Clerk W.A.Price
<br />and on motion of Trustee Tuchsen,seconded by Trustee Kreiss and carried,Trustee McNulty
<br />be appointed President pro -tem.
<br />Minutes of regular meeting held August 16th.192O were read and on motion of Trustee
<br />Tuchsen,seconded by Trustee Kreiss same be approved as read.11otion Carried.
<br />The following letter from the Redwood City Chamber of Commerce was presented to the Board
<br />by ldr.F.g.Towne regarding building the spur track; -

<br />TO THE HONORABLE BOARD.OF TRUSTEES,
<br />REDWOOD CITY,CALIFORNIA,.
<br />Gentlemen; -
<br />As it will be impossible for me to attend your meeting this evening, I thought
<br />I would express.my idea of the spur track and municipal wharf by letter:
<br />I fail to see any reason preventing your Honorable Board of -proceeding with
<br />the bmilding of the spur track immediately. While a few possibly may have considered
<br />the Goverment dredging, the majority of the people understand the track would be built
<br />regardless of what the Goverment did in the dredging. It has boen my argument all the
<br />time that we would have to do our part before the Goverment would do anything,and it
<br />has proven so in this case.
<br />There is only one thing to do, and that is to build a spur track and fulfill
<br />our Contract with the S.H.Frank Tanning Company, and get the deed to our municipal
<br />wharf and then If the Goverment does not come to our aid,do still stronger and go fifty-
<br />fifty with them and open the Creek. We find this is what Oakland,Richmond,Petaluma,
<br />Eureka,and all cities had to do, so If we want Redwod City to go ahead,we must do the
<br />same.
<br />If we have to spend �? I00,000 on track and dredging,it would be the best
<br />investment the City ever made, Now that a company is willing to put on a steamship
<br />line with the creek:in its present condition with the assurance that this work will
<br />be done shows they have confidence in this proposition,
<br />We know that a few have endeavored to kill this undertaking,but why should we
<br />let a very few hinder the gtowth and prosperity of our City ; If Los Angeles or Stociton
<br />had out natural water way into the great San Francisco Bay,with such a short distance
<br />to deep water, they would have that water way opened years ago and ships coming and
<br />going all the time, and Redwood City would be four times its present size.
<br />So Gentlemen, I sincerely hope that you will not delay further, and that you
<br />will start at once and go through with the undertaking, and as an individual and tax
<br />payer will be with you at all time, Lmd on behalf of the Redwood City Chamber of CoMlerc;
<br />nan safely say we are with you.

<br />On motion of Trustee Tuchsen, seconded by Trustee Kreiss, the City Attorney be instructed
<br />to take up the matter with the S. H. Frank Company to elimate the clause in the escrow
<br />agreement and deed of the Peninsula Dock and Warehouse property that provides said property
<br />shall forever be maintained as a Municipal Wharf by said Town. Motion carried.
