<br />ORDINANCE NO. 289.
<br />AN ORDINANCE, REGULATING THE
<br />SALE OF MILK AND CREAN AND
<br />PROVIDING FOR A NILK IN-
<br />SPECTION SERVICE_ FOR THE
<br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY.
<br />The Council of the City of Redwood
<br />City do ordain as follows:
<br />Section 1. It shall be unlawful for
<br />any person, firm or corporation or
<br />agent or employee of any person, flrm
<br />or corporation, to sell, offer for sale,
<br />distribute or have in his or her pos-
<br />sesion, for sale or distribution any milk
<br />or cream for human consumption, as
<br />milk or cream, unless it conforms to
<br />the standard of grading and to the re-
<br />quirements for the. production of milk
<br />and cream established by the Pure
<br />Milk Law of California, and amend-
<br />ments thereto.
<br />In addition thereto whole milk must
<br />contain not less than 3:6 per cent milk
<br />fat.
<br />iSectlan 2. It shall be unlawful for
<br />any person, firm or corporation .to sell,
<br />expose or offer for sale within the City
<br />of Redwood City any milk or cream
<br />unless such person, firkin or corpora.
<br />tion shall have first obtained a per-
<br />mit from the Milk Inspection Depart-
<br />ment of San Mateo County, to sell, ex-
<br />pose or offer for sale a specified grade
<br />or grades of milk or cream.
<br />Sec. 3 AU ,grocery stores, delica-
<br />tessens sand other retail establish-
<br />mbents handling raw or pasteurized
<br />- milk or cream for human consumption,
<br />must keep all milk or cream In an Ice
<br />chest or refrigerator of sufficient ca-
<br />pacity to hold the amount of milk or
<br />cream handled in said premises, and
<br />said ice chest must be freely drained
<br />and must at all time have a capacity of
<br />Ice or refrigeration whieh will main-
<br />tain a temperature 'under fifty degrees
<br />Farenheit within the Chest or refrlg-
<br />erater
<br />Sea 4 Every person, firm or cor-
<br />poration who sells, offers for sale, dts-
<br />tributes, or has In possession for sale
<br />or distribution, any milli or cream,
<br />In the City of Redwood City shall pay
<br />a registration fee of twenty-five hun-
<br />dredths of a cent for each gallon dls-
<br />tributed during the .calendar month
<br />preceeding, said fee to be paid into the
<br />County Treasury of San Mateo County.
<br />Sec. 6, The duly appointed milk and
<br />_ dairy inspector of the County of Sala
<br />�- - Mateo fs hereby empowered to per-'
<br />form the .functions of milk and dairy
<br />Inspector within the City of Redwood
<br />City for the •purpose of enforcing the
<br />provisions of this ordinance.
<br />Sec. 6. Any person, firm or corpora-
<br />tion or any agent or employee of any
<br />person, firm or corporation violating
<br />any of the provisions of tlils ordinance,
<br />shall be deemed guilty of a misde-
<br />meanor and upon conviction thereof,
<br />shall be a fine Of
<br />to exceed punishable
<br />hreeHund ed ($300.00) Dolt
<br />Jars or by imprisonment for a period,
<br />of not more than Ninety (50) days or
<br />by both such fine or imprisonment.
<br />Sec. 7, The City Clerk is hereby di -
<br />rooted to cause this ordinance to be
<br />published once In the Redwood City
<br />Standard, a newspaper of general eft
<br />culation published and circulated In
<br />said city and hereby designated for
<br />that purpose, and shall take effect from
<br />and after 30 days after its passage.

<br />Council of said City at a regular meet-
<br />ing thereof held on the -21st day of Jan-
<br />uary, 1929, by the following vote:
