=1 <br />0 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL HELD <br />MARCH 17, 1930 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />Upon roll call there were present: Councilmen Mayor H.A.Beeger, Z.T.Thorning, <br />D.R.Stafford, W.J.Dusel, C.J.Hildebrant, P..A.McCarthv, City Clerk W.A•.Price. <br />ABSENT: Councilman G. W. McNulty. <br />Minutes of the meeting held March 3, 1930 were approved as read on motion of <br />Councilman Dusel seconded by Councilman Hildebrant. Motion carried. <br />Moved by Councilman Thorning, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant that the plans <br />presented by the Union Oil Company for service station at Broadway and,the <br />Highway be accepted and permit granted. Motion carried. <br />Moved by Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Stafford that B. P. Arata <br />be granted a permit to erect a service station on the Highway between Beech <br />and Cedar Streets but that only 40% of the frontage be used for approaches <br />or entrances and 60% for parking. Motion carried. <br />Moved by Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Thorning that the owners <br />of the Foley Garage be requested to have the gasoline pump and tank remoded <br />from in front of this garage on Broadway. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Thorning, seconded by Councilman Dusel offers Resolution M-4 and <br />moves its adoption. <br />RESOLUTION DECLARING NUISANCE NO.M-4. <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City <br />that whereas, certain weeds are growing in the City of <br />Redwood City upon all of the•streets, avenues, roads, <br />boulevards and highways in said City and upon all the lots <br />and property in said City, which weeds are of a kind which <br />bear seeds of a wingy or downy nature and will attain such <br />large growth as to become a fire menace when dry; and whereas, <br />said weeds constitute a public nuisance. <br />NOW THEREFORE, it is hereby declared that the said <br />weeds do now constitute and will continue to constitute a <br />public nuisance, and it is hereby ordered that the said <br />public nuisance be abated in the manner provided by that <br />certain act of the Legislature of the State of California <br />entitled "An Act Authorizing Municipalities to Declare <br />Noxious or Dangerous Weeds Growing upon the Streets or <br />upon Private Property within Municipalities to be a <br />Public Nuisance, Creating a Lien upon the Property Fronting <br />on such Streets or Sidewalks or upon which such Nuisance <br />Exists, for the Cost of Abating the Same", approved May 26th, <br />1915, together with acts amendatory thereof. <br />The streets, avenues, roads, boulevards and highways <br />upon which, and the lots and property upon which such <br />nuisance exibts, are all the streets, avenues, roads, <br />boulevards and highways and all the lots and property in <br />said City of Redwood City and all the lots and property <br />fronting upon the streets, avenues, roads, boulevards and <br />highways in said City of Redwood City. <br />The Superintendent of Streets of the City of Redwood <br />City is hereby directed to give the notice required by <br />Section 3 of said Act hereinbefore mentioned and referred <br />to herein, and he shall cause said notices to be immediately <br />posted in front of the property as designated in this <br />resolution. <br />That Monday, the 21st day of April, 1930, at the hour <br />of eight o'clock P.M. o said day, at the meeting place of <br />the Council of said City of Redwood City, in the Council <br />Chamber in the City Hall on Webster Street in said City of <br />Redwood City, County of San Mateo, State of California, be <br />and the same is hereby fixed as the day, hour and place when <br />R <br />a <br />1 <br />Ll <br />
