a <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />HELD APRIL 21, 1930 <br />Upon roll call there were present: Councilmen Mayor H. A. Beeger, W. J. Dusel, <br />C. J. Hildebrant, P. A. McCarthy, G. W. McNulty, D. R. Stafford, Z. T. Thorning, <br />and City Clerk, B. E. Myers. <br />Minutes of the meeting held April 7, 1930, were ordered approved upon motion <br />of Councilman Thorning, seconded by Councilman Dusel. <br />The Managers recommendation concerning the contingent automobile liability was <br />favorably received, and upon motion of Oouncilman Stafford, seconded by <br />Councilman Dusel, the Manager was requested to prepare specifications which <br />would cover the Cityls liability and present them for approval of the Council. <br />The Manager made a preliminary report concerning the sidewalk conditions on the <br />Woodside road and considerable discussion followed. In general, the Council <br />concurred with his recommendation and it was finally decided, upon motion of <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, to refer this matter <br />to the South Redwood Improvement Club for their recommendation•as to the type <br />of sidewalk desired. <br />In the matter of school play -ground equipment and the Manager's preliminary <br />report as to the amounts required, the matter was continued with the request <br />that the Manager get more detailed information from the school authorities. <br />The Manager reported that a permit for the installation of traffic signals at <br />Five Points had been received from the Department of Public Works, Division <br />of Highways, but brought out the fact that there were several unreasonable <br />restrictions listed in the permit. After discussion, upon motion of Council- <br />man Dusel, seconded by Councilman Thorning, the matter was referred to <br />Councilman McCarthy and the City Manager with instructions that they take <br />it up with the High-ymy Department in an effort to eliminate these unreasonable <br />restrictions. <br />In the matter of protest by Geo. H. Petersen, the Manager presented a report <br />from the City Tax Collector and after discussion, upon motion of Councilman <br />McNulty, seconded by Councilman Dusel, it was decided to allow the charge <br />for weeds to stand. <br />The City Manager orally presented the subject of parking stands for the taxicabs <br />operating in Redwood City and was instructed to arrange for this with the <br />assistance of the Chief of Police. <br />The petitions of Marieta B. Wa'lace and William T. Timmons and also of Nonie F. <br />May, Gerald F. Clar, and Jack Ranis for the division of certain assessments <br />were presented by the Clerk and it was explained by the City Attorney QIP <br />that under the new ruling if the Council had these proceedings published <br />there was no arrangement made for the cost and as the matter was discretionary <br />Ea <br />the City Attorney recommended that the petitioners deposit with the City <br />Collector sufficient money to pay the costs before the division of the <br />assessments would be made.
