CABLE ADDRESS
1 CROZIENGI SAN FRANCISCO
H. W. CROZIER
CONSULTING ENGINEER
t SAN FRANCISCO
June 4, 1931
Mr, E. A. Rolison,
City Manager,
Redwood City, Calif.
Dear Mr. Rolison:
58 SUTTER STREET
Will you be good enough to send me a statement
iving the names and amounts contributed towards the
26,000.00, which was supplied by local interests for the
1930 dredging contract for $520000.00 recently completed?
These figures were furnished me some time ago and were
copied into a.notebooks which has been mislaid, or probably
lost on the train during my last visit to Redwood City.
j In connection with this matter it is found that
the total amount spent so far by the United -States is
$67,763.46, including the $261,000.00 of the 1930 contract.
i
I telephoned Mr. Geo. Merrill the other day and
he advised me that the Redwood City Harbor Compan alone
has spent about $110200000 on Redwood Creek and 20,000.00
on West Point Slough. He has promised to take off a detailed
statement of :this from his books. I have also written the
Pacific Portland Cement Co., San Franciscos'S, H. Frank Co.s
Redwood City, Stauffer Chemical Co., San Francisco, and the
Alaska Codfish Co., San Francisco, asking them to take off
from their books what they have spent for dredging.
I was informed by Mr. Merrill that the Tacoma Mill
Co. spent something for dredging but he does not know if it
amounted to any substantial amount. I was also told a
Mr. Mathews spent a considerable amount'on the opposite side
of the creek. I was unable to find out from him who Mr.
Mathews is,he refers to, perhaps you can inform me.
very truly yours,
H. W. He outlined briefly the history of the track along Chestnut Street
and maintained that it was a detriment to the property. Dave L. Walter also
spoke. The City Engineer was asked to determine the percentage of property
frontage represented by the signers of the petition and reported that, at the
t
