W <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 52 1930 <br />8 P.M. <br />Upon roll call there were present: Councilmen Mayor D. R. Stafford, W. J. Dusel, <br />C. J. Hildebrant, P. A. McCarthy, G. W. McNulty, H. A. Beeger, City Clerk, <br />B. E. Myers. Absent: Councilman Z. T. Thorning. <br />193-° <br />Minutes of the meeting held April 21/ were approved on motion of Councilman McCarthy, <br />seconded by Councilman Hildebrant. <br />Affidavits for the publication of notice to contractors inviting sealed proposals <br />for the construction of the yacht club building were ordered filed. The City <br />Manager then presented bids which had been submitted to him for the con- <br />struction of this building, as follows: <br />Russell & Duncan $p2,849.00 <br />H. E. Bourquin 41543.00 <br />Gus Waller 3,950.00 <br />L. N. Pollard 3,607.00 <br />Upon motion -of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, contract <br />for the yacht club building was awarded to Russell & Duncan who were the <br />lowest bidders. <br />A letter was received from the Pacific Gas & Electric Company requesting a <br />berth at the Municipal Harbor and upon motion of Councilman Beeger, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty, the entire matter was referred to the <br />committee on the Yacht Harbor also with request to establish rates for <br />rentals which would be acceptable to the Council. The City Attorney was <br />instructed to draw up a definite form of contract. <br />Upon motion of Councilman Hildebrant, seconded by Councilman Dusel, the <br />following dance permit was granted: <br />Al J. Markgraf for May 3-24-31, 1930. <br />It was decided, in regard to the construction of the sidewalk along the <br />Woodside Road, to be governed by the City Manager's recommendation --that <br />a formal petition drawn up by the City Engineer's office be presented to <br />the property owners affected which they could then file with the City <br />Council requesting the work to be done under regular street improvement <br />proceedings. <br />A letter from John Gill for the Trustees of the Redwood City schools expressing <br />their thanks for the cooperation of the City regarding the matter of play- <br />ground activities was ordered filed. <br />Mr. Albert Collins addressed the Council concerning building restrictions, in <br />particular pertaining to property at 510 Roosevelt Avenue. Building <br />Inspector Drathman replied that the building permit was in due form and <br />upon motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Dusel, it was <br />decided to take the matter under advisement to determine the future policy. <br />Mr. Carr requested the Council to take whatever action was necessary to save some <br />trees on Iris Street between Vera and Roosevelt Avenues, and upon motion of <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Dusel, the matter was referred <br />to the City Engineer and Superintendent of Parks. <br />rj <br />J <br />Jl <br />Y <br />i <br />
