I
f`
f; Extension of Hudson Street
? Upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty, affidavit of the City
I Clerk for the mailing of Notice of Hearing of Protests was ordered filed.
Mayor Stafford asked if there was any one who wished to speak and Mr. Jones, representing
i South Redwood Improvement Club, acted as spokesman and claimed to represent 75% of
I
the Property owners along May and Oxford Streets. To substantiate his statements he
f called as witnesses: Chas. Bolin and Mr. Cooper, of LOmitA Park; i1r. W.L.Horrocks of
Colma; W. Laikam, San Bruno; Mr. E. Monina of San Francisco; Mrs. Moureau, Mrs. Suttman,
I and Mrs. La Dieu. The owner of the fox farm introduced several persons who maintained
§ that they did not consider the fox farm in any sense a nuisance or contributing in any
way to creating unsanitary conditions. Councilman Beeger asked Mr. Wilson the approximate
! amount of his investment and was told it was about 11000. Councilman McCarthy asked
Mr. Wilson what his intentions were. about expansion and he replied that he did not intend
at any time to have more than eight ,pairs of foxes.
i
Councilman McCarthy summed up all of the testimony by the various speakers to the effect
that there seemed to be justifiable objections to the fox farm on the part of some
of the neighbors but that on the other hand the fox farm was in no way detrimental
to the health of the community. Councilman Beeger followed Councilman McCarthy saying
that in consideration of the money already advanced for this work and the small
individual assessments which would be necessary that it certainly would be a mistake,
not to go ahead with the opening and extension of this street but that when the actual
paving of the thoroughfare came up serious deliberation should be given and the cost
oi' the street work not forced on the property owners umvillingly.
9
A
LO
Finally, Councilman McCarthy offered the following resolution overruling protests and moved
its adoption. Councilman McNulty seconded the motion of Councilman McCarthy with the
proviso that before the paving plan was entered into some, satisfactory adjustment
should be made concerning the fox farm, preferably eliminating it.
RESOLUTION OVERRULING PROTESTS
UNDER RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. M-5.
RESOLVED, THAT WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City did, on
the 7th day of April, 1930, pass and adopt resolution of intention No. M--5, to order
the hereinafter described work to be done and improvements to be made in said City
of Redwood City, to grit:
Sca IC
