However, the Veterans Board took exceptibn:tb--this and finally, upon motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Dusel, the matter was referred to the City Manager with authority to act in accordance with the procedure being followed by other cities. Dr. Gruss and other interested men addressed the Council concerning repairs at the Yacht Club House, repairing the road, bad water, etc., and this matter was referred to the City Manager and City Engineer. Mr. Dan Flynn appeared to announce that the committee acting for the extension of Main Street to the Bayshore Highway was not prepared to make a report. Mr. Ray Danis asked for a lower rate for dance permits at the Foresters' Hall but the Council decided there was no reason for changing the present ordinance. Mr. Brackett and fur. Kennedy from the Standard Oil Company made request to construct a service station at the SW corner of James and E1 Camino Real and upon motion of Councilman Hildebrant, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the petition was granted provided the island for pumps on James Street be placed back within the set -back lines without cost to the City at any time the City made request. Mr. E. P. ward representing the Shell Oil Company made application for service station at the NE corner of James and E1 Camino Real and the permit was granted, on motion of Councilman Hinman, seconded by Councilman Dusel, with permission to erect a wooden fence instead of a wall fence until such time as the question of the widening of the Highway was definitely established. Mr. Rolison brought up the question of the well on the Canine property and,upon motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the Manager and Attorney were authorized to prepare the necessary agreement with Mr. Canine by which the City would have the right to make a test of the water in the well at a cost not to exceed 6260.00 and incorporating the right, if the City saw fit to do so, to buy the property. Upon motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Dusel, the City Attorney was authorized to prepare the necessary notices calling for bids for the lease of the old corporation yard for a period of five years, bids to be opened next meeting. Councilman Dusel, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, moved that the Mayor send a telegram to President Hoover asking him to speed up the decision by the Interstate Commerce Commission in regard to granting the permit to the Western Pacific, indicating that it would be one means of helping the unemployment question. Motion carried. City Attorney presented affidavits of the posting and publishing of notice of filing unpaid assessment list$ and upon motion of Councilman Hildebrant, seconded by Councilman McNulty, they were ordered filed. Whereupon, Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman McNulty offered the following resolution providing for the issuance of street bonds to cover the unpaid assessments under Resolution of Intention M-7, being improvements on Minnie and George Streets: IM
