The City Manager presented his recommendation, concurred in 'by the'City Engineer, concerning a three year lease to be entered into by the City with Messrs. Eikerenkotter and Johnson for the location of speed boats at the Harbor. He added orally, however, that the gentlemen had not been seen as to the provisions of the suggested lease. He was informally -instructed to take the matter up with the man in question and if satisfactory with them to consummate the lease. Dave L. Walter, representing the General Petroleum Company of California and also the Tacoma Mill Company, presented application for an oil station to be built on the block of land between Webster Street, Washington Street and the Bay Shore Highway, and upon motion of Councilman Hinman, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, permission was given to build the service station subject to the approval by the Council of the final plans for the building. Mr. Walter also spoke again concerning the finishing of the Bay Shore Highway as soon as possible and after discussion the City Manager was instructed to take lup.the subject with Col. Skeggs that the City might have knowledge of the true state of affairs. 3 The City Manager also reported concerning a complaint by water consumers in Carmelite. Manor in that the water supply was insufficient. He recommended, upon the suggestion of the City Engineer, that the present two (2") inch main be replaced with a four (4") inch cast iron main and that a fire hydrant also be installed, the entire work to cost about $1,000. First, indicating its approval of the petition of W. Taylor to resubdivide Lots 13 and 14, Block 3, Jefferson Acres, and upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the recommendation of the City Planning Commission was approved. The second point was the petition of Mr. s Canine for subdivision but inasmuch as the property is outside the City limits the City has no jurisdiction. The third point was the suggested change of name of several streets d all of which as indicated were approved by the Council.
