Il � 1 A I A The City Attorney explained about an ordinance regulating special meetings of the Council and it was introduced, upon motion of Councilman Hildebrant, seconded by Councilman McNulty. The City Attorney also submitted an ordinance for introduction changing the names of pertain streets and upon motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, it was property introduced. U The City Attorney also submitted an ordinance regulating and licensing card parties where admission is charged and it was properly introduced, upon motion of Councilman Dusel, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant. The City Manager explained the importance of proper insurance coverage and indicated that he would be pleased to have some of the members of the Council assist him in determining what policies to use. Mayor Stafford and uounoilman Dusel volunteered to help him. Discussion was had concerning proper celebration of the opening of the Bay Shore Highway. Upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hinman, the Mayor was instructed to ask Governor Rolph to participate in this opening, the date for which was tentatively set for May 2. The Building Inspector submitted for consideration to the Council the placing of signs on certain property without perodasion, many of the signs being objectionable. The Clerk was finally instruoted to write letters to the Walter Realty Company, Mark McCann, and Leonard & Holt; informing them that at our next meeting, April 20th, a special order of business would be the subject of objectionable signs and putting signs up without permission. The City Manager presented for discussion a claim of the City Engineer, C.L. D3mmitt, against Leonard & Holt for $240.00 for surveys, plans and specifications and the salary of an inspector on streets in Lenolt under permit granted that Company for such work. It was explained that Leonard & Holt had not gone ahead with that work and that Mr. Dim' t could not affeot payment for his services. Upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the claim was ordered filed to be up at the next meeting and &Metter concerning the matter written to Leonard & Holt. The City Engineer explained about seeing the owners of property along Valota Road and the difficulty of acquiring right of way for sorter in that region. Upon the suggestion of Councilman McCarthy it was ordered that a letter be sent the San Francisco Water Department asking the status of the water supply and whether or not we could depend upon San Francisco to furnish us this summer the same amount of water required in previous years. Councilman McCarthy asked about the abatement of weeds by the use of oil and burning and the City Engineer explained that in most instances in Redwood City it would be considerably more expensive to use the oil. 391
