u L l D A 1 Minutes of Regular Meeting 'Redwood City Council April 20, 1931 8:00 P M Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor D R Stafford, H A Beeger, W J Dusel, C J Hildebrant, E B Hinman, P A McCarthy, Geo W McNulty, City Clerk B E Myers. The minutes of the meeting of April 6th were approved, on motion of Councilman Hinman, seconded by Councilman Dusel. Mr. K. A. Winter asked whether or not it would be possible to have Walnut Street rocked where it would join the Bay Shore Highway. Upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Dusel, the matter was referred to the City Engineer to report on the cost. J. W. Bennett, speaking for the Union Cil Company, requested change of location of one of their buildings at the oorner of Wellesley and. El Camino Real. Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Dusel, moved that the application for this relocation be granted provided that the set -back be 10 feet from the property line instead of 9 feet as shown on the Company's drawing, that a curb be constructed along the property line in front of the pumps and further that should the Highway be widened at this point there should be no expense whatever to the public in moving any buildings to the proper set -back. Carried. Mrs. Collins of Vera Avenue spoke to the Council about a fence which had been put up by the property owner next to her and asked if anything could be done. Councilman Dusel explained that the owner of the adjacent property was willing to follow the instructions of the Council. Although some discussion ensued no action was taken. The City Attorney presented affidavits of publishing and posting notice of hearing on ordinance licensing card parties which were filed, upon motion of Councilman Hildebrant, seconded by Councilman McCarthy. The Ordinance was read by the Clerk. A.J. Stebenne, representing Reinhard & Company, submitted to the Council a petition protesting the passing of the. Ordinance in question. Considerable discussion was had between Mr. Stebenne and different Councilmen and finally, upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hinman, it was ordered that the ordinance be laid on the table, Councilman McNulty voting "no". Several realtors were asked to be present at this meeting to discuss the removal of signs. The subject was introduced by the Mayor and was discussed by C.H. Holt, Mr. DoXsee, Mayor Cowgill of San Carlos, the Building Inspector, Mark McCann, and D.L. Walter, the Councilmen also taking part in the discussion. Mr. McCann covered the matter quite concisely and indicated that a way to eliminate the confusion and disturbance about size would be for the realty men to get together and decide what could be done. Upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the entire affair was laid over until the next meeting with the idea that the realtors formulate some policy to work out the matter satisfactorily. Upon motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Dusel, the application for electric license in favor of the Electrical Equipment and Repair Company, by D. Perham, was approved provided the bond was properly signed. At the suggestion of the City Manager the Clerk read a communication from the Joint Pole Commission referring the application of John Brackett that the'pole in front of his property on James Street near the Highway be removed without cost to him.
