A letter from the Redwood City Promotion Association relating to various activities of the City was also ordered filed: The Clerk read a letter from Palo Alto in which attention was called to Constitutional Amendment No. 8 which proposes to tax public utilities owned and operated by the different municipalities. On motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the Clerk was instructed to write our representatives to oppose this bill. An application was presented through the City Manager by property owners of South Redwood calling attention to the noisy machinery of the Country Club pumping plant on Orchard Avenue and asking that this alleged nuisance be stopped during the night. Antone Miguel, representing the protestants, appeared before the Council and explained the situation. On motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, the petition was ordered filed and the matter referred to the City Manager. The City Manager explained about the application to operate an Austin taxi -cab business and the Council concurred in the Manager's recommendation that there were a sufficient number of taxis already operating. He also explained what the'Sportmen's Club wished and asked the Council whether or not it would look favorably upon the proposal and the City Manager was Ao informed. Mr. Jones, representir4 the treater South Redwood Improvement Association, spoke about the desirability of having,the Woodside Road included in a secondary highway district and asked that the Council representing the. citizens of Redwood City, do whatever could be done to support the proposition, and asked that a representative be present at their next meeting. The City Attorney submitted affidavits of posting and publishing notice for filing of unpaid assessment list under Resolution of Intention M-14 (Electroliers on Brewster and Broadway) and they were ordered filed on motion of.
