MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDNOOD CITY COUNCIL MAY 4, 1931 8:00 P M Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor D R Stafford, H A Beeger, W J Dasel, C J Hildebrant, E B Hinman, P A McCarthy, Geo W MoNulty, City Clerk B E Myers. The minutes of the meeting of April 20th were approved as corrected, on motion of Councilman Hinman, seconded by Councilman Dusel, C.E. Choate, representing the Sportmen's Club, presented sketch of proposed buildings at the harbor and wished to know if the Council had reached a decision: On motion of Councilman Hinman, seconded by Councilman Dusel, the Club was granted permit to build the building on a site to be selected by the City Manager and Engineer with the understanding that in the preparation of the lease that there would be incorporated the necessary restrictions; - the rent to be 05.00 a year. The Real Estate Board complying with the request of the Council at a previous meeting presented a letter concerning the size and the placing of signs for advertising sale of property. After discussion, on motion of Councilman Hinman, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the Attorney was instructed to work up with the realtors some provision in regard to signs that would be satisfactory to all parties. The Greater South Redwood Improvement Club by letter extended an invitation to the Council to be present at their next meeting on May 15th and, upon motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the letter was ordered filed with the understanding that the Council would accept the invitation. The Greater South Redwood Improvement Club also asked that the City obtain a deed from the State for the Union Cemetery property, which was ordered filed. Mayor Stafford explained that certain legislation which seemed likely to pass would take care of this matter and suggested that action be delayed. The City Engineer was instructed to interview the County Surveyor as to data about the storm sewer project from the hills down the Woodside Road. A letter from the American Legion protesting the changing of the name of Redwood City was ordered filed. Wm. Jamieson and P.E. Brand addressed the Council concerning enforcement of the plumbing license ordinance. Although considerable discussion ensued there was no formal action. A petition protesting the change of name of Hillcrest Avenue was ordered filed. The discussion of Mr. Leugar and the proposed ordinance affecting local labor was brought up but postponed on the suggestion of the City Attorney until the meeting of June 16th. Antone Miguel again protested to the Council concerning the noise made by the Menlo Country Club equipment. The Manager reported that he had investigated but did not know what could be done. Councilman McCarthy suggested that he was willing to go out to listen to the noise and report back. K. A. Winter again appeared to ask about rocking Walnut Street from Bradford to the Bay Shore Highway. The Manager Deported an estimated cost for rocks and bitumuls of 1 i
