<br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
<br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL
<br />JANUARY 18, 1932

<br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor D R Stafford, H A Beeger, W J Dusel,
<br />C J Hildebrant, C G Lambert, Paul A McCarthy, Geo W McNulty. City Clerk B E Myers.
<br />The minutes of the meeting of January 4th were approved, on motion of Councilman Hildebrant,
<br />seconded by Councilman McCarthy.
<br />On motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman Dusel, the minutes of December 21st
<br />concerning the waiving of penalties on 1915 Delinquent assessments were changed to show
<br />an addition that "on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Lambert, the
<br />City Tax Collector was definitely instructed to waive these penalties and charge 7%
<br />interest."
<br />Petitions were received, signed by the several truck drivers, and also by a dozen or more
<br />merchants, pertaining to the charge of $25.00 on trucks, the contention being the small
<br />amount of business these trucks did would not justify paying the amount of this license.
<br />On motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the petitions were
<br />received and filed and the matter referred to the City Manager and Attorney.
<br />Pete Logan in a written application asked for a license to operate a pool hall at 2303 Highway,
<br />which was granted, on motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant.
<br />Ordinance No. 332 regulating and licensing motor buses came up for consideration but'the
<br />hearing was continued, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Dusel,
<br />until 8:15 p.m., January 25th, the Clerk being instructed to notify Attorney Bullock
<br />concerning the meeting. In connection with the considering of the taxi ordinance, there
<br />was presented an application for a taxi license by T.J. Henderson who is now driving
<br />a motor bus between Emerald Lake and Redwood City. This application was also laid over
<br />until the next adjourned meeting, January 25.
<br />Letter from Geo. H. Hirsch, 435 Clinton Street, protesting assessed valuation on his property
<br />and requesting a reduction was referred to the City Assessor.
<br />The City Manager reported that it1would require over $100 to relocate the light signals at
<br />Broadway and the Highway. As this price seemed high, nothing further was done.
<br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Beeger, affidavits of the posting
<br />and publishing of the notice of filing of unpaid assessments under Resolution of Intention
<br />N-2 (Extension of Main Street and Bridge) were ordered filed: Following this, Councilman
<br />Dusel, seconded by Councilman Lambert, offered the following resolution providing for the
<br />issuance of street bonds covering the unpaid assessments on this Main Street job:

<br />AN ORDER PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF STREET IMPROVEMENT BONDS,
<br />PRESCRIBING THE DENOMINATIONS OF SUCH BONDS AND OF THE INTEREST
<br />COUPONS ATTACHED THERETO.
<br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City, County of San
<br />Mateo, State of California, did, on the 16th day of Mar ch, 1931, pass
<br />and adopt its Resolution of Intention No. N-2 for the improvement of a
<br />portion of Main Street in said City of Redwood City, under and pursuant
<br />to the provisions of the "Improvement Act of 1911" and amendments there—
<br />to, and under the provisions of the "Improvement Boni Act of 1915119
<br />and amendments thereto, and to the resolutions, notices and other pro—
<br />ceedings of said Council duly adopted and taken, reference to said
<br />Resolution of Intention No. N-2 being hereby expressly made for a des—
<br />cription of said work and for further particulars. and
<br />WHEREAS, the contract for said work and improvements was duly
