G✓e �J� � Ordinance No. 332 calling a special election, introduced March 7th, was formally adopted by unanimous vote. fOr leX�l SCS 0""�0 Vol. 3� pR9C �� O The City Treasurer made a partial report concerning the purchasing of municipal bonds for the purpose of saving some of the interest. After discussion Mayor Stafford appointed a committee consisting of Councilmen Beeger, Lamber and Dusel to cooperate with the Treasurer in the buying of bonds. The question of the proposed ordinance restricting the distribution of hand bills in residential districts was again brought up for consideration and the Clerk read a letter from the Retailers' Division of the Chamber of Commerce in which the Retailers' Division had voted unanimously favoring the passage of such an ordinance. On motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Lambert, the City Attorney was instructed to draw up an amendment to our present ordinance to�put into effect similar restrictions in the residential district. Mr, Melvin Pollard addressed the Council relative to permission to build a board sidewalk in front of the property owned by Ralph Oneto, 100 feet on E1 Camino Real Roosevelt. Upon motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman Beeger, permission was given to build such a board sidewalk with the understanding that it be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. The City Manager brought up, in connection with delinquent taxes and street work, the case of John Franco who is the owner of Lot 11, Block 20, Eagle Hill Addition. Against this property there is $1,247.53 of delinquent taxes and street work together with a balance of principal and interest on street work, not yet due bi; payable later, of $493.07. The owner of the property evidenced a willingness to pay $500 against the present delinquency and promised to pay the advance payments when due. In order to clear up the situation and make it possible to eventually clear the property, it was decided, on motion of Councilman Dusel, seconded by Councilman McNulty, to accept the proposal, i.e., to accept the $500 and cancel the balance of $747.53 of delinquency. Mayor,Stafford read a petition signed by quite a number of workingmen and businessmen about some arrangement for employment even at a reduced rate, and indicated that the petition was intended for presentation to the Board of Supervisors for their action.
