MINUTES OF REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL April 25, 1932 5:00 P M Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor Wm J Dusel, H A Beeger, C J Hildebrant, Robert N Jones, C G Lambert, Geo W McNulty. City Clerk B E Myers. Absent, Councilman: Paul A. McCarthy. C. A. Buck, Mayor of Burlingame, in a letter to the City Clerk invited the Mayor, Council and city officials,to an informal meeting at Burlingame Friday evening, April 29. The Clerk was instructed to notify Mayor Buck that as many as possible of the Councilmen and officials would be present. The application of Jos. Dingman for electrical license was granted, on motion of Councilman Hildebrant, seconded by Councilman McNulty. The request of Henry V. Luce and Lillian M. Luce for reassessment of the charge for street improvement against Lots 17 and 15, in Block 21, Robinson's and Eagle Hill addition was granted, on motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant. Mr. Morton, representing Foster & neiser, again asked the Council to grant permission to put up a posting panel on the northeast side of E1 Camino Real about 230 feet from the Five Points intersection and, on motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Lambert, permission was granted to, erect the sign. The City Manager submitted and recommended a prevailing wage scale to be advertised in connection with the construction of the concrete reservoir. After changing the rate of skilled labor from $5.00 to $5.50 and that of sheet metal workers from $10.00 to $9.00 a day, Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman McNulty, offered resolution accepting and adopting this wage scale. Unanimously carried. (Filed -Resolutions -Wage Scale). The City Engineer submitted plans and specifications prepared for the concrete reservoir which were accepted and adopted, on motion of Councilman Hildebrant, seconded by Councilman McNulty. Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, then moved that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of the reservoir as per the plans and specifications submitted by the Engineer and adopted at this meeting, bids to be opened at 2:00 P.M., May 16th, in the office of the City Manager. Carried. Following the suggestion of former Mayor Stafford, the City Manager submitted his recommendation concerning the proposed reduction of salaries. After comlaring those of Redwood City with those of Burlingame and San Mateo, the Manager in his concluding paragraph recommended that any action toward reducing salaries be deferred until such time as neighboring cities and adjacent communities prepared to do likewise. After some discussion, including a statement made by Councilman Lambert, concerning his stand on the salary question, it was finally decided, on motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman Jones, that nothing further be done until the Manager could submit a tentative budget for the coming year, presumably by the first meeting in June.
