MINUTES OF REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING

<br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor Wm J Dusel, H A Beeger, C J Hildebrant,
<br />Robert N Jones, C G,Lambert, P A McCarthy, Geo W McNulty. _City Clerk B E Myers.
<br />Affidavit for the publication of Ordinance No. 335, fixing the meeting place of the Council at the
<br />auditorium of the Fire Home, was ordered filed. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by
<br />Councilman McNulty, this ordinance was passed unanimously.
<br />In a letter signed by R.I. Shields, chairman of the housing committee Corporal James Lindsay Wilson
<br />Post. No. 2310, the Council was requested to establish the ownership and control of the building
<br />now being used by veterans of different wars at Mazes Plaza. In the letter there was indicated
<br />some doubt as to who was responsible for managing the building. On motion of Councilman Beeger,
<br />seconded by Councilman McNulty, this matter was referred to the City Manager—to arrange a meeting
<br />of the various organizations in an endeavor to work out this difficulty.
<br />The City Treasurer again brought up the question of paying 1915 -Act bonds, whether delinquent or not,
<br />and on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, he was instructed to pay
<br />all bonds in default from whatever funds were available whether collected from delinquent assess -
<br />meats or from current assessments before paying current bonds due in July.
<br />Mr. Robert Vail of the Vail Home Berner and Oil Company asked permission to erect on his premises at
<br />Bayshore and Chestnut Streets a 10,000 gallon gasoline storage tank and permission was given, on
<br />motion of Councilman Hildebrant, seconded by Councilman McNulty.
<br />Mr. Hugh R. Israel asked permission of the Council to put in a float at the Harbor with the idea of
<br />renting outboard motors. On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Jones, this matter
<br />was referred to the harbor commissioner to report back June 6th.
<br />Councilman Lambert reported the progress made by the committee to take care of unemployment and was
<br />complimented by the Mayor on,what had been done already.
<br />The City Attorney presented an ordinance prohibiting the discharge or disposal of water upon streets, alleys,
<br />and other thoroughfares, which was formally introduced on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by
<br />Councilman Hildebrant.
<br />The question of the award of contract for Reservoir #3 *as again brought up and the City Manager presented
<br />his recommendation to award this contract to the firm of Neves and Harp of Santa Clara according
<br />to their bid already submitted, which, according to the estimated quantities, amounts to $18,956.64.
<br />Mr. Harp was present and discussed the conditions b8 employment and using of local materials.
<br />Finally, Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, moved that the contract for the
<br />construction of Reservoir #3 be awarded to Neves and Harp, the lowest bidders, as recommended
<br />by the City Manager, subject to the approval by the City Attorney of all necessary bonds and
<br />contract. Carried.

<br />BID NO. 2 UNDER SPECIFICATION NO. 2 - GUNITE PAVING.
<br />ITEM 1. For all GRADING -EXCAVATION, the sum of Fifteen cents ($0.15) dollars per cubic yard.
<br />ITEM 2. For all GRADINGEdBANKMENT, the sum of Twenty cents ($0.20) dollars per cubic yard.
<br />ITEM 3. For all GRADING -BORROW, the sum of Fifteen cents ($0.15) dollars per cubic yard.
<br />ITEM 4. For GRADING -TOP SOIL, consisting of removing top soil as directed at beginning of work,
<br />stock -piling same outside the lines of the work, and later re handling and spreading same over
<br />excavation and embankment slopes, for this work complete and in place, the sum of Twenty cents
<br />($0.20) dollars per cubic yard.
