0 0 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL MAY 16, 1932 9:00 P M Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor Wm J Dusel, H A Beeger, C J Hildebrant, Robert N Jones, C G Lambert, Paul A McCartby, Geo McNulty. City Clerk B E Myers. The minutes of the meeting of May 2nd were approved, on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Lambert. Frank Schottler again requested the Council to do something about putting the High School baseball diamond in shape and Mayor Dusel_reported he had taken the matter up with the school trustees and also with Mr. Rowland in charge of the unemployment office. The City Manager reported that there were eighteen bids on specification #2 for the #3 reservoir but indicated that he would like at least a week to consider various points before he would put in his recommendation. Upon motion of Councilman McCartby, seconded by Councilman Hilde— brant, the Manager was instructed to hold the five lowest bids and make report at a regular adjourned meeting to be held May 23rd. The Clerk was also instructed to return the certified checks of the other bidders. In checking up on a letter from the Southern Pacific Company concerning the parcel of land at the end of Hamilton Street, upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Lambert, the Manager was requested to get in touch with Hare, Brewer & Clark and get the deed which had been issued to them but never recorded. He was also to notify the Southern Pacific Company that it was the intention of the Council to retain this piece of property. The City Manager also explained about the desirability of making some alterations in the Council room for the purpose of creating additional office space with the recommendation that the Council meet in the auditorium of the Fire House. Upon motion of Councilman Hildebrant, seconded by Councilman McNulty, an ordinance was introduced indicating the auditorium of the fire house as the official meeting place of the Council. The City Treasurer again brought up the matter of meeting payment on delinquent 1915—Act bonds and also the current bonds which would be payable after the first of July. He indicated that he anticipated a very heavy delinquency and desired expression from the Council outlining the proper method for paying out whatever funds there might be. He also explained that one of the bondholders had taken exception to his stand that bonds of a certain.year should be paid from the receipts from assessments for that particular year. The bondholder claimed that all delinquent bonds should be paid from the current collections before any current or new bonds should be retired. The City Attorney expressed himself as being in sympathy with the stand taken by the Treasurer but that he would see Attorney Kirkbride of San Mateo and confer with him about this particular point and report back at the next meeting. On motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman Beeger, the City Manager was instructed to cause to be printed 500 copies of the discussions pertaining to the City government prepared for the Tribune by Councilman McCarthy, at a cost not to exceed $50.00. Upon roll call, all Councilman voted in favor of the motion with the exception of Councilmen Hildebrani and Jones. upon motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Beeger, the approved claims were ordered paid and departmental reports.ordered filed.
