1 <br />u <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 6, 1933 <br />5:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor W. J. Disel, H. A. Beeger, R. N. <br />Jones, C. G. Lambert, Geo. W. McNulty, City Clerk, B. E. Myers. Absent:. Councilmen P. A. <br />McCarthy, C. J. Hildebrant. <br />On motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the minutes of meetings of January <br />16, 23 and 30, were approved. <br />Louis Hemrich, a representative of the Shell Oil Company, asked permission of the Council to place <br />a sign advertising the company's services somewhere along E1 Camino Real, between Whipple and <br />Brewster Avenues. As it was thought this would set a precedent, and other companies would <br />imitate the example of the Shell 011 Company, it was decided, on motion of Councilman McNulty, <br />seconded by Councilman Beeger, to deny the permit. <br />Request of Isaias N. Castro for a permit to operate a pool room and soft drink place at 2244 State <br />Highway again came up for consideration. Councilman Jones, in making his motion to deny this <br />permit, stated he was of the opinion there is a sufficient number of pool rooms in that section <br />and thought it best to limit the number. His motion was seconded by Councilman Lambert and <br />carried. <br />Ordinance No. 341 calling for special election to vote on the proposal to amend the City Charter <br />was formally adopted on motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Lambert. <br />Dance permits were granted on motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman McNulty, to the <br />Masonic Lodge for February 11 and to the Rainbow Girls and De Molay for February 13. <br />g. B. Towne, of the Towne Motor Company, asked permission to again put up a sign at his establish— <br />ment which had already been used but in some slight degree did not live up to the ordinance. <br />However, in the circumstances, he was given permit, on motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded <br />by Councilman Jones. <br />The departmental reports were ordered received and filed. <br />The. approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Jones. <br />Adjournment. <br />City Cler <br />BEM:MR V <br />U <br />q,Lt <br />a <br />
