0101
(3)_ That unusual situations similar to the Buben request be referred
to the City Planning Commission.
Following the reading of the recommendation of the Planning Commission and the protest letter
I
from Carolyn Clements of Burlingame, discussion took place concerning the permit given
i
to R. N. Buben, Avondale Avenue, (November 5, 1934). Mrs. Buben was present, as was
f '
also a group of neighbors whose spokesman was Bert Herder. There was considerable-con—
fusion evident among the Councilmen as to the extent of the work to be done under the
4
special permit of November 5, some expressing surprise at the size of the present
jbuilding. Most agreed that the request should have been referred to the Planning Com—
mission in the first place. Finally, to end the discussion, and strike at the heart
of the matter, Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Jones, moved that the permit,
granted by the Council at the meeting of November 5, be rescinded -and the whole matter
be referred to the Planning Commission. Motion carried with Councilmen Eva and Fletcher
,voting °No°.
On motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Eva, the Clerk was asked to write a
letter of apology to the Planning Commission.
Supplementary to the recommendation of the Planning Commission that stop signs be placed at
Maple and Pennsylvania Avenues and Jefferson and Pennsylvania Avenues,'it was suggested
that suitable signs be placed at Brewster Street and Arguello—Street,—that a warning
reflector be placed on the north side of Jefferson Avenue at the junction with Fulton
j' Street, and that something be done to eliminate the hazard on the BayshOre Boulevard
coming south toward Brewster Avenue. On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Coun—
cilman.Pletcher, the City Manager was asked to make a preliminary survey to establish
any need for signs throughout the City and to make•his recommendation.
'f .
The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman
ii
' Jones.
fi
. Adjournment.
I
City Cle
BEM:MR
