G. Lambert, L. C. Christensen, <br />J. M. Eva, E. A. Fletcher, R. N. Jones, Geo. W. McNulty, City Clerk, B. E. Myers. Absent: <br />P. A. McCarthy. <br />The minutes of the'meeting of January 21, 1935, were approved on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded <br />by Councilman Christensen. <br />In connection with the bids for cast iron pipe, the City Manager made the following report and <br />recommendation: <br />°In accordance with our advertisement for bids on cast iron pipe and fittings, the <br />following sealed proposals were submitted: <br />R. E. Olson, 2055 - 57th Avenue, Oakland (For fittings only) ..............$ 459.00 <br />American Cast Iron Pipe Company, San Francisco (For pipe and fittings).... 19,44g.4o <br />Enterprise Foundry Company, San Francisco (For fittings only) ............. 64g.00 <br />United States Pipe and Foundry Company, San Francisco <br />(For pipe and fittings) ............................................... 15,9&.90 <br />Grinnell Company, San Francisco (For pipe and fittings) ................... 20,594.80 <br />Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company, San Francisco <br />(Foi:pipe and fittings) ............................................... 19,9+5.55 <br />Utilities Supply Company, Los Angeles (For pipe and fittings) ............. 19,655.02 <br />After due consideration of all bids received, it is our recommendation that the above <br />contract be awarded to the UNITES STATES PIPE AND FOUNDRY COMPANY of San Francisco for <br />the sum of $19,994.90, this being the lowest bid based on the unit prices submitted." <br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Jones, the contract for the pipe was <br />awarded to the United States Pipe and Foundry Company of San Francisco on the basis of their <br />bid as recommended by the City Manager, and the Clerk was instructed to return the certified <br />checks of the unsuccessful bidders. <br />In another communication, the City Manager reviewed the agreement with the City of Berkeley for <br />certain fire apparatus and explained that it now seemed necessary, in lieu of a sale of the <br />property to Redwood City, to enter into a Lease by which the City would pay $50 a year.
