f
}' The City Manager reported request for places to play horse shoes and he suggested that something
of this nature can be arranged at Mezes Square but wanted the approval of the Council. Such
approval was given.
' Councilman Lambert went into considerable detail in explaining the present status of the Unemploy—
ment Committee for the information of the Council.
The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman
Hildebrant.
Adjournment.
BEM:MR
Note: March 6 declared Bank and
General Holiday -
City Clerk
MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 79 1933
5:00 P.M.
Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor R. J. Dasel, H. A. Beeger, C. J.
Hildebrant, R. N. Jones, C. G. Lambert, P. A. McCarthy, Geo. W. McNulty, City Clerk, B. E.
z. Myers. Absent: None.
Minutes of February 20 were approved by Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman McNulty.
Joe.A. Abramopoulos, Veteran, asked for a free license to peddle, once a week, hams, bacon and
pickles at wholesale to restaurants. L. Eisner, Veteran, asked for free license to distribute
at wholesale electrical supplies to dealers. As both these men would compete with others who
are paying the full truck license, it was deemed expedient to postpone decision and refer the
matter to the license committee of the Chamber of Commerce, which was done on motion of
Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty.
Frank S. Gooder asked permission to peddle without paying a license indicating that he was trying
to make a meager living by selling oranges and apples. This matter, the Council took under
advisement, but no formal action was taken.
Hugh R. Israel asked permission to establish a stand at the Yacht Harbor for the purpose of selling
soft drinks, candy and tobacco. Permission was given on motion of Councilman Hildebrant,
seconded by Councilman Beeger, revocable at any time. In his remarks, Mr. Israel suggested
the advisability of having certain life saving equipment at appropriate places, and this
matter was referred to the City Manager.
The application of the Apex Electric -Company, 363 Fell Street, San Francisco, which was accompanied
by a check for $25.00 and a $300.00 bond, was favorably acted on, on motion of Councilman
McNulty, seconded by Councilman Beeger, subject, however, to approval of the bond by the City
' Attorney.
Mrs. M. E. Chapman, in a communication to the City Council, called attention to a large sign and
high shrubbery along the highway on the property occupied by C. H. Holt and asked if something
could be done. The Building Inspector told the Council that the sign had been put up without
permit and"in view of this circumstance, the Clerk was instructed to ask Mr. Holt to remove the
sign.
4
