In a letter signed by John Blood, Chairman, the United Veterans' Council of Redwood City thanked
the Council for its cooperation in installing sidewalks around their building. Request was
also made in the communication that the Council officially designate the building as Veterans#
Ball or Veterans' Building instead of Mezes Rall. It was explained that the square is now
known as Mezes Plaza but that if all the organizations agreed on a name, it would be acceptable
to the Council. The Clerk, therefore, was instructed to communicate with the United Veterans.',
Council and tell them that they would adopt either Veteranal Hall or Veterans Building as
seemed to them more appropriate.
Councilman McCarthy explained certain proposed legislation covered by specific Senate and Assembly
bills and the Council went on record as endorsing them, as follows:
Senate Bill No. 178, an act requiring that personal property tax on automobiles be paid
as a prerequisite for the registration of vehicles by the Motor Vehicle Department.
Assembly Bill No. 1172 pertaining to the diversion of gas tax moneys to the municipalities
and the allocation of various amounts to Counties and Cities.
Assembly Bill No. 1563 pertaining to the developing of motor boats in yacht facilities and
the revenue to be derived from the sale of fuel for motor boats, etc.
The departmental reports were ordered filed.
The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Jones.
Adjournment.
City Clerk/
BEM:MR
1
I
